It's the Solemnity of Our Lady of Champion!

On October 9, 1859, Our Lady appeared to Adele Brice here in Champion, WI. She gave Adele clear instruction to do the following:
- receive the sacraments
- pray for the conversion of sinners
- gather the children and teach them what they should know for salvation

The words of Our Lady ring throughout our Diocese and our own ministry at Camp Tekakwitha as we strive to teach children their faith and invite them into a deeper encounter with Christ.

We are blessed to frequently visit such a powerful and peaceful place to be reminded of Our Lady's instruction and guiding hand.

Yesterday was the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi!

For the past few years, this feast day has landed right on our Fall Camp weekend and we've had the gift of celebrating Mass all together in the Saint Francis of Assisi chapel!

St. Francis, guide us in our love for God and desire for truth! Help us see Christ in all people and glorify the Lord through our care for creation. Pray for us!

Fall camp has come to an end after a fun filled weekend. We enjoyed the fall weather, colorful leaf piles, and of course pumpkin carving! We can't wait for winter camp in January for even more fun.

Some days we look around and wonder how we are going to get everything done around here.

Actually, that's most days here in ministry. We're just a small team doing big work!

But, since it hasn't proved helpful to get stressed over it all, I've turned to the realization that there's a beautiful opportunity for surrender to the Lord in the midst of the busy. "It's yours, Lord, please give us what we need for today."

Truthfully, He always shows up. And it's usually when we least expect it.

About a month ago, in the middle of a particular nutty week, I was feeling it during the beginning of our peak retreat season. I was fighting to get ahead on the checklist, and my inbox was filled with things I probably should have done yesterday.

Out of the blue, I got an email from a neighbor with a cottage here on Loon Lake asking if he could bring a group of guys to volunteer at Camp for a day in September.

It was an email I could respond to real quick. We don't usually say no to these kinds of things. ☺️

I was truly struck by the outreach. In the midst of everyone's busy lives, this group of men came to spend a chunk of their Friday with us to pour into Camp projects (during their fun group fishing tournament weekend, no less)! They don't have strong ties to our ministry besides the fact that they love hearing the joy of our campers all summer on the lake.

It was a simple outreach that felt really profound to us. We can't do this work without a village, and we're so incredibly grateful for all those who are part of it!

THANK YOU to Jon, Connor, Mike, James, and Mark! Your time and enthusiasm was such a gift to us!

An AMAZING group of mothers and daughters joined us on retreat last weekend!

We had talks, nature hikes, prayer, crafts, reflection activities, and more ... all while meeting new friends and growing as beloved daughters and sisters in Christ.

It was such a gift to be able to pour into these ladies of all ages and help them slow down, be together, and notice all the ways the Lord is loving them.

We're already excited to see you all back at next year's Mother Daughter Retreat! 💐
