We’re a volunteer-led community initiative working to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Shasta County.

Through hands-on cleanups, education, and inclusive stewardship, we’re building a cleaner, stronger, and more connected place to call home. Beautify Shasta is a grassroots community effort dedicated to keeping Redding and the surrounding areas clean, cared for, and beautiful. Founded in June 2025, this project began with one person’s passion for stewardship and pride in our local environment—and is growing into a movement fueled by volunteers who want to make a visible difference. We believe in the power of community, the importance of education, and the value of inclusion. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter your background, abilities, or how much time you have to give. Whether you're picking up litter, spreading awareness, or just cheering us on, you're part of something meaningful. Together, we’re not just cleaning up—we’re creating a legacy of pride, respect, and responsibility for future generations.

💚 A New Year of Impact. A Community That Keeps Showing Up.

As we wrap up our first quarter of the new fiscal year, we're taking a moment to look back at what our community has accomplished together. Every pound collected, every volunteer hour, and every person who shows up is part of something bigger.

Behind every one of these numbers is someone who chose to make a difference. It's neighbors giving their time, local businesses taking initiative, organizations working together, and people finding new ways to care for the places we call home.

We're especially grateful to see more people getting involved and taking action in their own communities. From cleanups and trail stewardship to partnerships that bring new ideas to life, this work continues to grow because people are willing to show up and be part of it.

Beautify Shasta, our mission has always been about more than picking up litter. It's about building community, encouraging stewardship, and making it easier for people to take pride in where they live.

To every volunteer, partner, business, organization, donor, and supporter who has helped make this possible, thank you! These numbers belong to all of you!

❤️ Small Businesses. Big Community Impact.

One of the things that makes our community special is seeing local small businesses step up and take action to make the place we call home a little better.

❤️ Inspiration inspires inspiration.

We’re inspired by the people who show up for the community, and we asked our volunteers what inspires them to get involved.

We hear things like:

🌿 A love for nature and the places they call home
🤝 Wanting to be more involved in their community
🗑️ Already picking up trash wherever they go
🏡 Wanting to care for the places they enjoy
🌎 Protecting our environment and wildlife
❤️ Community pride
👋 Meeting new people and finding ways to give back

We also heard from people who were inspired by seeing the impact of previous cleanups and wanted to be part of it themselves.

That's the part that gets us excited.

We show up, someone sees it, and maybe they decide to show up too.

Then inspiration keeps moving.

🚲 Bags for Brews was a beautiful way to spend a Sunday!

Five volunteers spent two hours out at Phu Rus Topi Plaza today, picking up 133.8 pounds of trash and helping keep our community’s trails clean and welcoming.

But the best part wasn’t just what we collected. It was getting outside, meeting new friends along the way, and spending a couple hours doing something good together. ☀️🥾

We’re so grateful to Shasta Living Streets for partnering with us on Bags for Brews and helping create a fun way for people to get involved in their community.

And, as always, a huge thank-you to the volunteers who show up and put in the work. ❤️

🌊 573.1 pounds. Three hours. 15 volunteers.

That’s what happened this morning at the 2026 Community Creek Cleanup.

Fifteen people showed up ready to get dirty, spread out around Calaboose Creek and Parkview Park, and spent the morning taking care of the places we all share.

Together, we pulled 573.1 pounds of trash out of the creek, along the banks, trails, and surrounding public spaces.

And honestly, that number only tells part of the story.

It was people working together. People filling bags, hauling trash, checking the places others might overlook, and helping make a part of Redding a little cleaner than they found it.

A huge thank-you to everyone who came out and put in the work today. We really appreciate you.

And thank you to everyone who helped make the cleanup possible, from our team leads and community partners to everyone who helped spread the word.

Not bad for a Saturday morning. ❤️

🌿 Two ways to spend your weekend with Beautify Shasta!

We’ve got two community cleanup events this weekend, and you’re invited to join us for either one, or both if you’re feeling ambitious. 😂

🌊 Saturday, October 3 - Community Creek Cleanup

8 AM–12 PM
📍 VFW Hall Parking Lot - 163 Locust Street, Redding

We’re bringing volunteers together to clean up Calaboose Creek, Parkview Park, and the surrounding trails and public spaces.

We’ll have several cleanup zones with team leads helping organize volunteers throughout the morning, and we’ll provide bags, gloves, litter grabbers, and cleanup supplies.

Bring closed-toe shoes, comfortable clothes, water, sunscreen, and be ready to get a little dirty!

📍 Shasta Bike Depot / Pipeline Craft Taps - 1322 California Street, Redding

We’ll be back out with our friends at Shasta Living Streets for another Bags for Brews cleanup!

Help us spend a couple hours cleaning up around downtown, then stick around afterward. Volunteers who participate in the cleanup and stay for the event will receive a drink ticket from Shasta Living Streets. 🍻

Two days. Two cleanups. A whole lot of community.

Whether you can make one event or both, we’d love to have you out there!

Come spend a little time outside, meet some good people, and help take care of the places we all share.

🌿 National Public Lands Day at Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve!

We had a great group out on Saturday, September 26, joining our friends at Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve, Western Shasta Resource Conservation District, and the Bureau of Land Management for a morning of taking care of our local public lands.

With 25 volunteers, we:

🗑️ Collected 206.3 pounds of trash
🎨 Painted over graffiti
🥾 Cleared overgrown trails
🌿 Helped improve the area for everyone who comes out to enjoy it

It was a good reminder that taking care of public lands isn't always about one big project. Sometimes it's a group of people showing up for a few hours and tackling the things that need attention.

And, of course, there was a BBQ waiting for everyone afterward. 🍔😂

Huge thank-you to Horsetown-Clear Creek Preserve, Western Shasta Resource Conservation District, and the Bureau of Land Management for putting together such a great National Public Lands Day event, and to everyone who came out and put in the work!

🎨 Four murals. One hour.

We teamed up with our friends at Rogue Credit Union for another one of our art preservation projects, giving four electrical box murals around the community a much-needed cleanup.

And apparently, once you get rolling, four murals can disappear in about an hour. 🧼😂

Public art is one of those little things that can make a big difference in how a place feels. Keeping these murals clean and cared for helps preserve the artwork and keeps these little pieces of our community looking their best.

Huge thank-you to Rogue Credit Union for working with us and helping us take care of our local public art!

🌊 One week until the 2026 Community Creek Cleanup!

Next Saturday, October 3, we're getting together to clean up Calaboose Creek and Parkview Park, and we'd love to have you join us!

We'll be out from 8 AM–12 PM, working across several areas around the creek and park to remove litter, clean up the trails, and help take care of these public spaces.

Whether you're coming by yourself, bringing your family, getting a group together, or just want to spend a Saturday morning doing something useful, there's a place for you.
