We’re a volunteer-led community initiative working to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Shasta County.

Through hands-on cleanups, education, and inclusive stewardship, we’re building a cleaner, stronger, and more connected place to call home. Beautify Shasta is a grassroots community effort dedicated to keeping Redding and the surrounding areas clean, cared for, and beautiful. 🌿🐝 Celebrate California Biodiversity Day in Downtown Redding! 🐦🌼

Our friends at Western Shasta Resource Conservation District are bringing California Biodiversity Day to Whistle Stop Park on Saturday, September 5th from 10 AM–2 PM, and this sounds like a fantastic way to spend part of your Saturday!

California is one of the most biodiverse places in the world, and this event is a chance to learn about and celebrate the incredible plants, animals, insects, and ecosystems that make our home so special. 🌎

Come check out local organizations, informational booths, presentations, crafts, and hands-on activities. You can even make a bird or bee house, contribute observations to iNaturalist.org, learn about pollinators, and discover ways you can help protect the species that call California home.

Cooler mornings are here, and we’re taking advantage of them! ☀️🍃

This morning we spent about an hour cleaning up the Market Street Bridge at Caldwell Park and pulled 21.6 pounds of trash from the area.

That might not sound like a huge cleanup, but for one bridge, that’s a pretty significant amount of litter—and more importantly, 21.6 pounds that won’t be making its way into the Sacramento River. 🌊

Sometimes making a difference doesn’t require a big event or a big group. Grab a bag, take a walk, and pick up what you can. Every little bit adds up.

We’ll keep showing up. 💚

🌆 A Beautiful Evening Downtown! 💚

We took advantage of the cooler 80° weather and headed downtown to pick up some litter ahead of Ironman weekend, and ended up doing a little more than that!

We ran into our good friends at Viva Downtown and jumped in to help clear cobwebs from the streetlights and hang some new banners. Along the way, we ran into familiar faces, reconnected with old friends, and were thanked by dozens of people enjoying a beautiful evening downtown.

A cool breeze, great people, and a little community stewardship. Honestly, this is what it’s all about. 💚

We love seeing our community come together to make Shasta County a welcoming place for everyone who lives here and everyone who comes to visit.

🥵 Anyone else ready for this heat to be DONE?

With daytime temperatures making cleanup a little tougher lately, we headed downtown after the sun went down and spent a little over an hour cleaning up an overgrown section of the Distelhorst Downtown Connection Trail.

It was a short section, but a noticeable difference, and it felt great to get back out there. 🌿🗑️

Cooler weather is coming, and we’re ready to get back to doing what we love: getting outside, taking care of our community, and making small changes that add up.

🌿 Community Action Weekend! 🌿

This month, we're doing things a little differently.

Instead of hosting our traditional First Saturday Cleanup, Beautify Shasta will be out at the Lake Redding Regatta connecting with the community, sharing upcoming projects, and recruiting volunteers for everything we have planned this fall.

⛵ If you're attending the Regatta, we'd love for you to stop by our booth, say hello, ask questions, and learn more about ways to get involved. Whether you're interested in litter cleanups, public art preservation, trail stewardship, or future community projects, we'd love to chat!

💚 Still want to make a difference this weekend?

Take just one hour to help beautify Shasta County.

Pick up litter in:

🌳 A local park
🥾 Your favorite trail

🎶 One year later... and this still makes us smile! 😄

It's hard to believe this little AI-generated cleanup jingle is already a year old!

Back then, we were just looking for fun and creative ways to get people talking about litter and inspire a little community pride. Looking back now, it's amazing to see how much Beautify Shasta has grown, from a simple idea to hundreds of volunteers, thousands of pounds of litter removed, becoming a Clean California Community, and so many incredible partnerships across Shasta County.

Sometimes it's fun to look back and remember where it all started.

So turn up the volume, enjoy a little throwback, and if you find yourself humming along... we won't judge. 😉

♻️ A great example of community stewardship in action!

When Redding residents take the time to properly dispose of old spray paint through the City of Redding’s Household Hazardous Waste Program, they’re already doing the right thing for our environment.

Recently, the City of Redding reached out to Beautify Shasta with an incredible opportunity. Instead of disposing of spray paint cans that were still usable, they tested them, sorted them, and donated them to us so they could have a second life helping improve our community.

The result? Paint that may have otherwise become waste is now helping cover graffiti and restore public spaces throughout Shasta County.

The photos below show one of the first projects completed using the donated paint. It’s a small improvement, but those small improvements add up to a cleaner, more welcoming community.

A huge thank you to the residents who disposed of these materials responsibly and to the City of Redding for thinking creatively about how these resources could continue serving our community.

Together, we’re proving that stewardship doesn’t always mean buying something new, sometimes it simply means giving existing resources a new purpose.
