We’re a volunteer-led community initiative working to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Shasta County.

🌊☀️ See You at the Sundial Splash! ☀️🌊

This Saturday, Beautify Shasta is excited to be participating in the Sundial Splash, a fun-filled community float celebrating one of our greatest local treasures, the Sacramento River!

Hosted by the Lions Club, this 6-mile paddle adventure takes participants from the Turtle Bay area down to the South Bonnyview Boat Ramp, where we'll be set up with an information table and would love to say hello!

Proceeds from the event help support the many projects and community programs the Lions Club brings to our region throughout the year.

If you've never paddled this stretch of river before, this is the perfect opportunity to experience it with fellow community members while supporting a great cause.

🌲✨ Where to Wonder Wednesday ✨🌲

This week we're highlighting Northridge Park, a cozy neighborhood park tucked away at 960 Hillsdale Court in Redding.

While it may be one of Redding's smaller parks at just 0.75 acres, Northridge Park offers a welcoming space for families, neighbors, and anyone looking to enjoy a little time outdoors.

🌎💚 Why Education Matters

One of the most memorable moments from the World Cup wasn't a goal, a trophy, or a championship celebration.

It was fans from Japan staying behind after the match to clean up the stadium.

Not because they were asked to.
Not because they were being paid.
Not because someone was watching.

They did it because they believe in leaving a place better than they found it.

That's stewardship.

At Beautify Shasta, litter cleanups are only one part of our mission. We also believe in environmental education because the long-term solution isn't just cleaning up after people, it's helping inspire the next generation to care for the places they live, work, play, and explore.

Whether it's a student learning about conservation, a family picking up litter during a walk, or a volunteer spending their Saturday morning improving a trail, every action helps build a stronger culture of community pride.

Imagine what our parks, trails, rivers, and neighborhoods could look like if everyone picked up just one piece of litter, reported one problem, or took a few minutes to leave a place better than they found it.

Small actions. Big impact.

🎨🌿 A little maintenance can go a long way.

While passing through the Diestelhorst Bridge River Trail Connector today, we took a few minutes to cover a section of graffiti and help the area feel a little more cared for and welcoming.

No major project. No big event. Just another small step toward keeping our trails looking their best.

Community stewardship isn’t always about large cleanups. Sometimes it’s picking up a few bags of litter. Sometimes it’s reporting an issue. Sometimes it’s spending a little time improving a space that thousands of people pass through each year.

The work is never really finished, but every small improvement helps.

Thank you to everyone who continues to take pride in our parks, trails, and public spaces. Together, those small actions add up to a big impact. 💚

🌿 Another great morning of community stewardship!

Today, Beautify Shasta joined our friends at Plantable Redding for a litter cleanup along Callaboose Creek. With a small but mighty team of six volunteers, we spent the morning removing litter and debris from the creek corridor, collecting 8+ bags of trash along the way.

The before-and-after photos tell the story better than words ever could. What started as a stretch of creek impacted by litter is now a cleaner, more welcoming space for wildlife, water quality, and our community.

Cleanups like this are a great reminder that you don’t need a huge crowd to make a visible impact. A handful of dedicated volunteers, a few hours of work, and a willingness to show up can completely transform an area.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out this morning and to Plantable for continuing to invest in the health and beauty of our community. Partnerships like these help create lasting change—one cleanup at a time.

Every piece picked up is one less piece headed downstream and one more step toward a cleaner Shasta County.

🌤️ We couldn’t have asked for a better morning!

The forecast called for rain, but somehow we managed to thread the needle, missing the showers before the cleanup and again after it wrapped up.

In just two hours, we removed nearly 100 pounds of litter from the Diestelhorst Bridge River Trail Connector.

That’s nearly 100 pounds of trash no longer scattered along a trail used by walkers, runners, cyclists, families, and community members enjoying access to our river.

The best part? The impact was immediate.

Sometimes it takes a large group to make a difference. Other times, it takes one person, a beautiful morning, and a willingness to get started.

Today was a reminder that small actions can create big results.

Thank you to everyone who supports community stewardship in all its forms. Every bag filled, every piece picked up, and every hour volunteered helps create a cleaner, more welcoming Shasta County.

The next time you’re out enjoying the river trails, remember: positive change often starts with one person deciding to do something.

Join Beautify Shasta for a Pop-Up Litter Cleanup at the Diestelhorst Bridge River Trail Connector this Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

This trail connector is an important link to our river trail system and could use a little extra love. Whether you can stay for the full two hours or just stop by for a bit, every helping hand makes a difference.

We'll provide litter grabbers, bags, gloves, and good company. You bring your community spirit and a willingness to leave things better than you found them.

🌅 Sometimes progress happens one evening at a time.

With the summer heat making daytime work difficult, we headed out in the evening to spend some time cleaning up the Diestelhorst Bridge River Trail Connector.

In about an hour, we removed 62.1 pounds of litter from the area.

There is still more work to do, and the trail could use some additional attention, but that’s okay. Community improvement doesn’t happen all at once. It happens one bag, one cleanup, and one volunteer at a time.

Every piece of litter removed makes the trail a little safer, a little cleaner, and a little more welcoming for the people who use it every day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our efforts, whether you’re joining a cleanup, recycling cans through Cans for a Cause, sharing our posts, or simply picking up a few pieces of litter when you see them. Small actions add up to big results.

Together, we’re proving that positive change doesn’t require a large event or a big crowd. Sometimes all it takes is showing up and getting started.

🎙️ Join us tonight on KCNR! 🎙️

We'll be joining Michelle this evening at 6:00 PM to talk about Beautify Shasta's first year as a community-driven stewardship organization and the incredible support we've received from volunteers, partners, and community members along the way.

Over the past year, together we have:

✅ Become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization

✅ Earned recognition as a Clean California Community

✅ Removed more than 11,000 pounds of litter from our community

✅ Hosted 12 consecutive monthly cleanups

✅ Expanded partnerships with local organizations, schools, cities, and community groups

✅ Supported environmental education, student projects, public art initiatives, and community beautification efforts

Most importantly, we've built an amazing community of volunteers who continue to show up and make a difference.

We'll also be sharing what's ahead for Beautify Shasta, including upcoming cleanup projects, environmental education partnerships, community art opportunities, and ways to get involved.
