Beautify Shasta

Beautify Shasta We’re a volunteer-led community initiative working to restore and preserve the natural beauty of Shasta County.

Through hands-on cleanups, education, and inclusive stewardship, we’re building a cleaner, stronger, and more connected place to call home. Beautify Shasta is a grassroots community effort dedicated to keeping Redding and the surrounding areas clean, cared for, and beautiful. Founded in June 2025, this project began with one person’s passion for stewardship and pride in our local environment—and i

s growing into a movement fueled by volunteers who want to make a visible difference. We believe in the power of community, the importance of education, and the value of inclusion. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter your background, abilities, or how much time you have to give. Whether you're picking up litter, spreading awareness, or just cheering us on, you're part of something meaningful. Together, we’re not just cleaning up—we’re creating a legacy of pride, respect, and responsibility for future generations.

🌿☀️ Memorial Day Weekend Challenge ☀️🌿

Whether you’re heading out camping, spending the day on the lake, hitting the trails, or just enjoying time outdoors with friends and family, take a few extra minutes this weekend to help leave our community a little better than you found it 💚

🧤 Pick up a few pieces of litter
🚤 Pack out what you pack in
🏕️ Leave campsites cleaner than you found them
🌊 Help protect our lakes, trails, rivers, and public spaces

It doesn’t have to be a full cleanup day to make a difference. Sometimes the biggest impact starts with one bag of trash, one campsite, or one person deciding to care.

Let’s show some pride in the places we all love to enjoy this holiday weekend 🇺🇸

Have fun, stay safe, and thank you for helping keep Shasta County beautiful 🌲✨

🌳✨ Where to Wander Wednesday ✨🌳

This week we’re highlighting Cumberland Park, located at

📍2150 Cumberland Drive in.

This 6-acre neighborhood park is a great spot to relax, play, or meet up with friends and family. Amenities include:

🏀 Basketball Court
🛝 Playground
🌳 Large Turf Area
🧺 Picnic Tables & Benches
💧 Drinking Fountain

What makes this park especially exciting is that it recently received a major community-supported renovation! In 2023, Cumberland Park celebrated the completion of a brand new playground area featuring updated play structures, swings, and much-needed shade improvements for families to enjoy. 🌞

The project was supported through a partnership between the City of Redding, community donors, helping revitalize a well-loved neighborhood gathering space that serves hundreds of nearby homes.

It’s always inspiring to see what can happen when community partners come together to invest in public spaces 💚

🌿🚶‍♂️ Neighbors helping neighbors 🚶‍♀️🌿

This weekend, 7 awesome neighbors/volunteers came together to help clear overgrown sidewalks along Shasta View in the City of Redding improving walkability, visibility, and access for everyone using the corridor.

In just 2 hours, we were able to make a huge difference, and it was great hearing so many walkers stop to thank the crew for making the pathway accessible again 💚

Projects like this are a great reminder that keeping sidewalks clear isn’t just about appearance, it helps make our neighborhoods safer and more welcoming for pedestrians, families, bikes, wheelchairs, strollers, and anyone trying to get from point A to point B.

🏡 Friendly reminder:
Property owners are generally responsible for helping keep sidewalks adjacent to their property clear of vegetation and obstructions, whether that sidewalk runs along the front or back side of the property.

A little maintenance can go a long way, and when neighbors pitch in together, the impact is even bigger ✨

Huge thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped support a safer, cleaner, more connected community.

🎨🌿 Where to Wander Wednesday – Downtown Edition 🌿🎨

This week we’re heading into the heart of downtown to highlight a small but meaningful space, Old City Hall Park

📍 1313 Market Street

At just 0.16 acres, this little park packs a lot of character. Sitting right outside the historic Shasta County Arts Council / Old City Hall building (est. 1907), it’s part of a vibrant arts hub that continues to bring creativity and community together.

🎭 Inside & around the space you’ll find:

A 150-seat performance hall
Art galleries & classrooms
Plays, dance classes, workshops, and live performances
Rotating sculptures and public art installations in the courtyard

But what really makes this spot special is how it connects to something bigger…

🌆 Redding’s Cultural District

This area is part of a growing downtown network of walkable, bikeable spaces where art, events, and community all come together. From here, you’re just steps away from:
🎶 Live music & events at the Downtown Promenade
🛍️ Local markets and pop-ups
🎉 First Fridays and other community events
🚶‍♂️ Walkable connections to shops, food, and the river trail system

It’s all part of building a more connected, active, and vibrant downtown experience.

Sometimes it’s not just about the park, it’s about everything around it 💚

🧤💚 Community showing up in the best way 💚🧤

Had a chance to connect with a former local cleanup group leader who reached out and said they had some extra supplies sitting in storage, and wanted to pass them along.

Because of that generosity, we just added:
🧤 12 grabbers
🦺 15 safety vests

That’s more tools in the hands of volunteers and less time coordinating pickups, making it easier to keep showing up and doing the work.

Huge thank you to Robert Balke for making sure these supplies continue to serve the community instead of sitting on a shelf. That kind of mindset is exactly what keeps this movement growing.

This is what it’s all about, people helping people, building something bigger together 💚

🧤🌿 Kicked off May the right way! 🌿🧤

Our First of the Month Cleanup at Dana Drive was a solid one 💪

In just 2 hours, our crew knocked out 312 pounds of trash along the river trail, making this stretch cleaner, safer, and way more welcoming for everyone who uses it.

This is what it’s all about, showing up, putting in the work, and seeing that immediate impact. Couldn’t ask for a better way to start the month 🙌

Huge thank you to everyone who came out and made it happen, you’re what keeps this moving forward 💚

🌿👀 Where to Wander Wednesday 👀🌿

This week we’re keeping it simple with a peaceful local spot, Mary Lake Park

📍 1696 Lakeside Drive

A quiet, easygoing park that’s perfect for a relaxing walk around the lake. The path loops around this man-made lake, making it a great spot to stretch your legs, enjoy some fresh air, or cast a line 🎣

🦆 Keep an eye out for wildlife, this area is full of it, so bringing binoculars isn’t a bad idea!

💧 Drinking fountain on site
🚶‍♂️ Easy, walkable pathway

Sometimes the best spots are the simple ones 💚
