We had such a wonderful and informative time at our recent volunteer training earlier this afternoon at Southern Valley Alliance! We’re so grateful to everyone who attended, participated, asked thoughtful questions, and showed a commitment to learning more about supporting survivors of domestic violence.

A huge thank-you to our guest speaker from Shakopee Police Department's Victim & Community Services Coordinator for sharing her knowledge, experience, and valuable insights. Your time and dedication help ensure our volunteers feel confident, informed, and prepared to make a difference in our community. 💜

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Here in Scott and Carver counties, domestic abuse affects our neighbors, friends, and families every single day. But no one has to walk this road alone.

For over 40 years, Southern Valley Alliance has been a lifeline for survivors—offering everything from safety planning and legal advocacy to transitional housing.
Abuse is about power and control, and it doesn't have to be physical to count. If you are experiencing emotional, financial, digital, or physical abuse, SVA’s trained advocates are here to listen and support you completely free and confidentially.

A big thank you to our Executive Director Christie for attending the Victoria City Council meeting yesterday to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October! 💜

We are grateful to the City of Victoria for helping raise awareness about domestic violence and showing support for survivors and their families. Together, we can continue to spread awareness, break the silence, and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Chaska Police Department brought local chaplains together with Southern Valley Alliance and Maria's Voice to work through exactly that.

These faith leaders want to be trusted lifelines for survivors, and they're doing the work to get it right. We talked through safe, practical actions they can take to protect parishioners and neighbors from abuse.
