Today the Shakopee Rotary Club welcomed and recognized this year’s 10 scholarship recipients at their lunch meeting at Dangerfield’s. Emma Sinnen(most improved GPA), Caleb Erickson, Kadija Ali, Ridwan Abdirahman, Kufah Mursal, Jaxson Brier, Tony Truong, Abigail Boateng, Avelina Khadzhi, and Aderi Okumu will each receive a $1000 scholarship for their participation in STRIVE. Congratulations to all!

One name was left off in error. Alyssa Hillesheim was not included but a correction is being sent to the newspaper for next week's printing.

2019-20 SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED!

I am so excited to announce this year's 11 recipients of the STRIVE scholarships. We have now contacted all the students and they were all thrilled to get the news. For those attending Normandale and Hennepin Tech they have the added bonus of receiving a 100 percent match too!

Today was another successful field trip to Normandale and Hennepin Tech. We had lunch at Buca Di Beppa too! I was very proud at how all 48 seniors in attendance, demonstrated respect and manners in each location. Very proud to be a part of the Saber Nation!

"At Shakopee Rotary yesterday we welcomed one of our STRIVE scholarship winners for 2018-19, Carlos Romero. He gave a truly emotional testimony to his struggles for him and his family leaving El Salvador to try and make a new and better life in the U.S. His school counselor Jenny Severson was also there along with his mother and his little sister to hear Carlos speak. Great job Carlos!

Thanks to our STRIVE volunteers at our recent Shakopee Rotary sponsored Shakopee Celebrates Reading Event at the high school. They did a great job filling almost 700 backpacks that were handed out to the 1st graders.

Another great field trip, this time to SANMAR Corp in Shakopee. Toured the facility and were treated to a nice lunch. Plus the students got a lot of goodies to take home too!
