We’re excited to welcome the newest mentors to our Foster Youth Mentoring Program — and it’s our biggest group in over 7 years!

June was a milestone month, with 10 incredible individuals applying to be mentors — the highest number we've seen in nearly a decade! Each of them brings unique life experiences, diverse backgrounds, and a shared commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people in foster care.

Mentorship through our Foster Youth Mentoring Program is all about building real connections—through kindness, shared interests, and lots of laughs. Just ask one of our youth, who’s been matched with his mentor Joe for over three years and still going strong! What does he like best about his mentor, Joe?

“He’s funny and kind. He’s active and likes to do stuff with me. We both like sports—and one of my favorite outings this year was the Toledo Walleye hockey game we went to!”

🎉 Happy 2nd Match Anniversary to this incredible mentor-mentee duo from our Foster Youth Mentoring Program!

Chandel has gone above and beyond—making monthly trips to Youngstown just to stay connected since her mentee moved there over a year ago. We celebrated their milestone with lunch and ice cream, sharing laughs and memories of the good times they’ve had visiting a farm, the group outing to Playhouse Square’s 'Black Nativity', and plenty of great meals!

Since May is National Foster Care Month, it’s the perfect time to recognize the power of supportive relationships like theirs—and to highlight the difference just one committed adult can make in the life of a young person in foster care.

Our Foster Youth Mentoring Program recently partnered with Purple Umbrella at Kent State University for a great tour and lunch!

Students visited programs they are interested in studying, learned about campus life, and checked out the Design Innovation Hub. We were also fortunate to have one of our program graduates — now a freshman at KSU — join us and share her experiences!

April is National Volunteer Month and we're so grateful for all of the dedicated volunteer mentors who make the Foster Youth Mentoring Program possible!

To show our appreciation and to welcome those interested in being a part of our program — join us at our Mentor Appreciation & Recruitment Happy Hour on Wednesday, April 16th from 5:00-7:00PM at Jukebox in Cleveland.
