Feral Friends of Shaker

Feral Friends of Shaker Hi folks! We are a 501(c)(3) in Northeast Ohio keeping it feral with TNR. We’re not a rescue, just here to help community cats live their best nine lives.

Feral Friends of Shaker was started by two Shakerites who happen to be neighbors who noticed local cat colonies of unneutered cats. Our primary goal is TNR, which means to Trap, Neuter, Return. This service is for feral cats who cannot be placed in homes. TNR promotes the reduction of homeless and feral cats and helps keep feral cat colonies healthy. How it works:
See a feral cat? Contact us by me

ssenger or email and let us know. We can come out and assess. If the cat is a candidate to be trapped, neutered and return, we will do so. What we do not do:
We do not shelter cats at this time and are not a rescue. Our long term goal is to have a shelter for the friendly cats we find along the way, but as of right now we do not have capacity to hold onto stray cats. We suggest reaching out to the APL for further assistance. Sometimes we do have kittens that were trapped with a feral mom, in which case we find temporary arrangements but that is not the goal of FFS. We are more than happy to refer you to local shelters or rescue agencies! Hours of Operation:
Monday-Thursday 9-5PM.

Meet Daphne. 🖤✨

We don’t know this gorgeous girl’s story for certain, but it’s clear life hasn’t been easy lately. Found outside as a friendly stray, Daphne had an ear tip and was covered in mats and dirt when she came into our care. Despite everything, she greeted us with kindness and trust.

Cats like Daphne remind us that not every cat living outdoors was born there. Some once knew the comfort of a home, a warm bed, and a family of their own. Whether Daphne was lost, abandoned, or simply fell through the cracks, we’re grateful she crossed our path. We checked for a chip and she did not have one.

Daphne still has a road ahead of her. She appears to have significant dental disease, and her mouth seems to be in very poor condition. Somehow, despite what must be a great deal of discomfort, this resilient girl is still eating well and keeping her spirits up. She has an upcoming veterinary appointment where we’ll learn more about what kind of care she needs and how we can help her feel better.

In the meantime, Daphne is settling in beautifully with her foster mom and is doing very well. She’s safe, warm, and finally getting the chance to rest while we work on getting her healthy again.

Welcome to Feral Friends, sweet Daphne. We can’t wait to show you that the best chapters of your story are still ahead. 💕🐾

If you’d like to support Daphne’s veterinary care, donations can be made through our Facebook or Venmo which is linked below. Dental procedures can be costly, but every contribution helps us provide the medical care that cats like Daphne desperately need. Thank you for helping us give this deserving girl a second chance. 🖤

Happy Monday from these 4 little troublemakers! 💕

🧡 This handsome orange boy reminded us of something important this week.

When we were called out to trap him, we assumed he was an older cat. He looked exhausted, worn down, and in rough shape. After getting him safely to the vet, we learned something surprising: he’s only about a year old.

Thankfully, he tested negative for FeLV and did not have any major traumatic injuries. The reality, though, is that life outdoors had already taken a significant toll on such a young cat.

People often picture community cats as thriving outdoors, but many are quietly battling parasites, illness, harsh weather, lack of consistent food, and the daily stress of survival. Even young cats can age quickly when every day is spent simply trying to make it to the next one.

This is why TNR matters. Every cat we can spay or neuter means fewer kittens born into these difficult conditions. Every cat we can vaccinate and provide medical care for has a better chance at a healthier life.

Watching this boy walk back into his outdoor home was bittersweet. We were grateful he was healthy enough to be released, but it’s also a reminder that community cats face challenges most of us never see.

Thank you to everyone who supports our work and helps us give cats like him a fighting chance. 🧡

🚨🐞 NEW KITTEN ALERT 🦗🚨

The bug invasion has officially begun… and we’d like to introduce our newest little crew: Mama June Bug and her four tiny babies!

These little bugs are getting ready to hit 5 weeks old and are quickly leaving their sleepy potato era behind. We’re entering a very important stage of kitten development: tiny zoomies, wobbly adventures, climbing things they absolutely shouldn’t, and complete disregard for personal space.

Meet the bug brigade:
🐞 Ladybug
🦗 Cricket
✨ Firefly
🐝 Bumble

Mama June Bug has been doing an amazing job raising her little crew, and we can’t wait to share more updates as their personalities start shining through. We have a feeling this bunch is going to keep us very entertained.

Stay tuned for more bug content and get ready for the date of our next fundraiser to be announced in the next week or two!

BREAKING NEWS: our boy Poncho has officially been adopted!

After careful consideration (and probably emotional manipulation via cuteness), Poncho has officially been adopted by one of our own Feral Friends humans Betsy Colie! We love a good inside job.

There is truly nothing better than watching one of our cats go from needing help to becoming someone’s forever family. We are SO ridiculously happy for this boy and can’t wait to watch him live his best spoiled-cat life.

Stay feral, buddy 💕🐾
