Feral Friends of Shaker

Feral Friends of Shaker Hi folks! We are a 501(c)(3) in Northeast Ohio keeping it feral with TNR. We’re not a rescue, just here to help community cats live their best nine lives.

Feral Friends of Shaker was started by two Shakerites who happen to be neighbors who noticed local cat colonies of unneutered cats. Our primary goal is TNR, which means to Trap, Neuter, Return. This service is for feral cats who cannot be placed in homes. TNR promotes the reduction of homeless and feral cats and helps keep feral cat colonies healthy. How it works:
See a feral cat? Contact us by me

ssenger or email and let us know. We can come out and assess. If the cat is a candidate to be trapped, neutered and return, we will do so. What we do not do:
We do not shelter cats at this time and are not a rescue. Our long term goal is to have a shelter for the friendly cats we find along the way, but as of right now we do not have capacity to hold onto stray cats. We suggest reaching out to the APL for further assistance. Sometimes we do have kittens that were trapped with a feral mom, in which case we find temporary arrangements but that is not the goal of FFS. We are more than happy to refer you to local shelters or rescue agencies! Hours of Operation:
Monday-Thursday 9-5PM.

Visited with the most beautiful lady this afternoon.
Mama Beanie has been with us for almost a year now. She is very skittish and loves on her own time which makes it difficult for someone to be interested in adopting. They don’t get to see this side to her though. She does love, It just takes some earning.

Handmade with a whole lot of love!

We have to take a second to recognize an incredibly generous donation we received for Saturday’s fundraiser.

Every single one of these beautiful afghans was handmade and donated to Feral Friends of Shaker at absolutely no cost to us. Anyone who crochets knows just how much goes into something like this, not only the cost of the materials, but hours and hours of someone’s time. To have someone put that much work into these and then donate them simply because they wanted to help us raise money for the cats means more than we can say.

It’s gestures like this that remind us how lucky we are to have people in our corner who believe in what we’re doing.

These gorgeous afghans will each be raffled separately at our fundraiser this Saturday, so you’ll be able to put your tickets toward your favorite!

And to the wonderful person who made them: thank you for every single stitch. We are so incredibly grateful. ❤️

We had such a fun day getting Feral Friends of Shaker out into the community! Meeting so many new people and talking cats (obviously) was so exciting for us. We sold some goodies and raised a little bit for the kitties.

We were also very quickly reminded that Mother Nature does not care about our cute pink tent. It was HOT. Like… the asphalt started melting and our tent was literally sinking into it hot (see photos for proof).

We brought a few friends along to meet everyone(the fury kind), but after about an hour and a half we decided it was getting too warm for them. So while the humans continued melting for the cause, the cats were promptly returned home to enjoy the rest of their afternoon in the AC. Their comfort and safety will always come first!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent, donated, bought something, sponsored one of our cats, asked about what we do or simply came over to say hi. Every little bit adds up! We can’t wait to see everyone next week for the fundraiser!

This sweet and sassy girl has never been more ready for her forever home than now. Our girl Daphne has recently undergone dental surgery and will likely soon have to have more. She is a senior kitty and is FlV+. None of that slows her down though.

Miss Daphne loves to play and especially loves some good scratches. This beautiful girl would be the perfect kitty for someone who wants a cat that is independent but also a straight lover baby. Ideally Daphne would be in a single cat home that is relatively quiet.

We want to give Daphne the best of her golden years to come. Please reach out if you're interested in meeting our lovely Daphne.

Bring Daphne home! Daphne is a senior medium female Domestic Medium Hair in Shaker Heights, OH waiting for adoption.

Recently we were contacted about a litter of kittens needing help. What initially sounded like a fairly straightforward situation turned out to be sick kittens, covered in fleas, needing far more care than we had originally been made aware of and on top of it, also would need to be bottle fed. Utimately, I had to say no.

Not because I didn’t care. I tried my absolute best. I reached out to people and organizations that I purposely reserve for true emergencies because I know how overloaded they already are. I made those calls anyway. They couldn’t help either. Everyone is full.

And I want to make something very clear: we don’t suddenly stop caring about a cat because that cat has an owner. Of course we care! That’s exactly why yesterday was so upsetting. That cat was let down by someone who is supposed to take care of them.

There is a difference between an animal having nowhere and no one, and an animal having a person who was responsible for their care and is now asking an overwhelmed rescue to take over because a 100% preventable situation has become too much of an inconvenience now.

If you own an unspayed cat and allow her outside, pregnancy isn’t an unpredictable emergency - it’s nature. If she has kittens, those kittens are your responsibility. And when those kittens become sick or covered in fleas, they don’t suddenly become the rescue community’s responsibility because their care is now difficult or expensive. That doesn’t mean we don’t care. It means rescue cannot be the backup plan for responsible pet ownership.

So please, keep Bob Barker’s spirit alive by spaying and neutering your pets. Keep them safely indoors. Get them medical care when they need it. And if you are struggling, ask for help before it becomes a crisis.

If you can’t afford to spay your cat, reach out. We would much rather help find resources for a single spay than be asked months later to find space and medical care for an entire litter. This mama cat had a litter of 6 and unfortunately one had already passed.

Please help the rescues trying to keep up. Foster. Donate. Volunteer. Share. Anything at all helps.

Stay Feral ✌️

NOW BOARDING: Flight FFS-2026 to Purrrto Rico

People usually hate their seat mates but we think you may just have the opposite problem here. Which seat are you choosing?!

There are no bad choices here. Although some passengers may scream for snacks, eat your hair, sit on your shoulder like a parrot, invade your personal space, or spend the entire flight trying to sit directly on you.

The best part? Every single one of these little passengers is available for adoption! If you fall in love with your seatmate, we’d be happy to reroute the flight directly to your house (pending TSA approval).

Drop your seat number below!
And if one of these faces catches your eye for more than just an imaginary flight, send us a message.

Please note: treats are not included with your ticket, but your seatmate will absolutely expect you to provide them.

Fun fact! Poutine's name was actually inspired by Banter Beer and Wine. We love their poutine (and other items) so much that we just had to name this little one after them. Banter was also kind enough to donate a $75 giftcard that you could win at our raffle on 9/5! Don't miss out on this delicious win!
