Our hearts remain with all those mourning the loss of beloved Lomond teacher, Mr. Najee Hardaway. We are sharing information about a community-organized vigil below. ❤️🖤

As our Shaker Heights Schools community continues to mourn the loss of beloved Lomond Grade 4 Teacher Najee Hardaway, we share the following information on a community-organized vigil:

Community Vigil:
Thursday, May 28 from 7-8 p.m.
Blacktop behind Lomond Elementary School, 17917 Lomond Boulevard

All community members are welcome to wear Mr. Hardaway’s favorite colors, red and black. Any individuals who would like to bring flowers are welcome to bring them to the vigil.

JOIN TEAM MR. TAYLOR!
Retirement is a special milestone, and our community often finds meaningful ways to celebrate those who have made a lasting impact.
Many Shaker families are coming together to honor beloved bus driver Mr. Taylor as he prepares for retirement after years of safely transporting and caring for students. To many, Mr. Taylor feels like family, a familiar and caring presence woven into their children’s school experience and daily routine. This community celebration reflects the relationships and memories built along the way.
While we celebrate Mr. Taylor and this special send off being organized by families, we at the Foundation also extend our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to all members of the Shaker community celebrating retirement this year and thank them for the many ways they have made a difference.

Our 8th grade students recently returned from an unforgettable journey to Washington, D.C.!

From exploring historic landmarks and museums to moments of reflection, learning, and connection, this trip was a meaningful milestone before the transition to high school. Students deepened their understanding of history and civics while building memories and friendships that will last for years to come.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors and supporters, more students were able to participate in this incredible experience and create memories that will stay with them for years to come.

We are so proud of how they represented our school throughout this incredible journey! ❤️🤍

From Winning Bids to Winning Smiles!
Back in March, one amazing family placed the winning bid for a pizza party during our Red & White Silent Auction and Mrs. Murphy's 1st grade class at Onaway Elementary got to enjoy the cheesy reward! Pizza, smiles, and time with their principal Dora Bechtel, made for the perfect celebration!

Lights, Camera, Confidence! 🎥
Today, Mercer Elementary’s Girls Empowerment group got a behind the scenes look at the world of news broadcasting during their field trip to Channel 5 News! From meeting anchors, weather reporters, and the production team to stepping in front of the cameras themselves, our students got a firsthand look at the power of communication, storytelling, and confidence.
And yes… they even made it on the news! 📺❤️
