Adam G. Jacobs, Ph.D., President of the Wingspan Care Group is retiring, effective January 2025, after leading Bellefaire Jewish Children’s Bureau (JCB) and then the Wingspan Care Group for nearly 30 years. The Wingspan Care Group Board of Directors has named Jeffrey A. Lox LISW-S, ACSW, as the next President of Wingspan and expresses its sincere confidence in his abilities and qualifications.

Cadence Care Network CEO Matt Kresic is in Columbus this week with members of the Ohio Children's Alliance (Matt is a former OCA president) providing testimony for House Bill 33, the state's biennial operating budget for 2024-2025. This bill is important for many reasons. More investment is needed to sustain, attract, and retain workforce while building the workforce needed for the future. Especially as behavioral health referrals have doubled over the past year. In 2021 more than half of our state’s children who experienced major depression did not receive mental health services, and only 33% received consistent treatment. Recent data reveals the number of children in Ohio diagnosed with anxiety or depression jumped 42%, representing the 10th highest state increase nationwide. In Ohio, there are roughly 15,000 kids in child protective service custody on a given day. In contrast, there are just over 7,600 licensed foster homes, a decrease of roughly 500 homes from 2021.

Congratulations to Level Up for being recognized by two local chapters of the American Advertising Federation! Wingspan Care Group is a proud partner of Level Up, striving to create a better tomorrow for transitional aged youth. To learn more, visit leveluptoday.org/.

We have exciting news to share! Both the Level Up website and the campaign videos were recently recognized by local chapters of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Our website, leveluptoday.org, was recognized by the Akron AAF with a Gold Addy in the Online/Interactive, Public Service section. The Level Up videos were recognized by the Cleveland AAF with a Silver Addy. Both components of the Level Up campaign advance to the next stage of competition and can move to the national competition if they again are recognized.

This recognition would not be possible without the hard work and dedication from our community partners, creators: Kleidon & Associates and Catbird Creative Agency and importantly the youth! We thank everyone for their support, and hope to continue to “level up” throughout the competition.
