Cedarhurst on the Bay - Citizen's Association

Cedarhurst on the Bay - Citizen's Association A historic waterfront community that is the antithesis of today’s modern developments. Come on down and meet us! The Harbor. Enjoy your power or sail.

Welcome to a community that is the antithesis of today’s modern developments of tract mansions and trophy homes built on what used to be someone’s cornfield. Welcome to a neighborhood where people say hello and neighbors know each other, a Chesapeake Bay community proud of its long heritage and focused on its future. Location
Established in 1921 as a summer colony for those seeking refuge from the

cities of Washington and Baltimore, Cedarhurst has evolved into a vibrant, picturesque bayside community of some 300 homes nestled on Maryland's Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Tucked away on the quaint Shady Side peninsula, located within easy commuting distance to both Washington and Baltimore and a close neighbor to the historic state capital of Annapolis, Cedarhurst’s location is not only beautiful but convenient. But be warned, those cities will seem worlds away on a quiet summer afternoon. Character
Cedarhurst is what an American neighborhood was intended to be. Unpretentious and quaint, its neighbors are college professors and watermen, artists and working people, families with kids and retired folk. From impressive large homes to modest renovated cottages, our residents, together, share a love of the bay and our small-town lifestyle. Unencumbered by strangling covenants, this is no cookie-cutter community but a genuine neighborhood with real people and natural, not contrived beauty. Newcomers can’t believe places like this exist anymore, old timers can’t imagine living anywhere else. Resources
Cedarhurst’s community-owned waterfront property is an expansive four acres, something almost unique on the entire bay. The panoramic views are beautiful: Waterfowl, sunrises, sailboats and watermen working their crab pots to name but a few. Cedarhurst’ s community property is a combination of well-maintained lawns and carefully managed wetlands, playgrounds, ball fields, benches, picnic areas and some special resources that are our pride and joy. The Community Pier
A $30,000.00 fully restored pier and gazebo stretches out into the bay for fishing, crabbing, swimming and strolling, or maybe just watching the geese fly by on an autumn day. The Community House
Perched on the south point overlooking the bay, is our beautiful Cedarhurst Community House. Many community social events take place here, as well as regular meetings of the Cedarhurst Citizens Association. This facility is available for residents to reserve for various small gatherings and affairs. Our original historic building, had been constructed in 1929, and faithfully served the needs of the community until it was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel in 2003. In 2007, we completed construction of our New Community Center and are blessed to have it for our use and enjoyment. Over 80 slips and direct access to the bay are the hallmarks of this picturesque facility. Or maybe just take a walk down to talk with the folks about the winds or the one that got away. The Cedarhurst Citizens Association
Cedarhurst On The Bay is overseen by a volunteer group made up of a range of residents who work to maintain our special community. An elected board of directors and the community association coordinate the revenues of the community benefit district, giving all a vested interest in the stewardship of the community. The group also sponsors a host of social events for all ages throughout the year. Meetings are held at the community house. Officers / Executive Committee:
