Blocking for THE CURIOUS SAVAGE began last night!
Blocking is a theatre term that means “precise planning of where, when, and how actors/actresses move and position themselves on stage during a performance”. This is a very intentional and detailed process to tell the play’s story in the exact way that the playwright intended. There is much imagination and creativity from the directors that takes place during this time to help bring the stage to life.
THE CURIOUS SAVAGE is set in post-World War 2 Boston, Massachusetts, and the somewhat sophisticated vernacular in the script represents that. These blocking rehearsals are the baby steps to getting the production off the ground and flying!
There will be 2 more months of blocking, set building, memorizing lines and stage directions, adding sound and light cues, and polishing it all up to get ready to present it to the public!
THE CURIOUS SAVAGE opens Friday, November 13th (!) at Seymour City Hall Theater.
