We are inviting you to consider becoming a member of the RJC Board.
Read Jackson County is dedicated to teaching our community to read, one person at a time. Because we are a deeply mission-driven, grassroots organization, we operate as a "working board" without a paid Executive Director. This intentional choice ensures that every dollar we raise goes directly into funding vital literacy programs for children and adults across Jackson County.
Our programs directly address critical literacy gaps in our community through:
· Babies, Books, & Blankets: Giving infants a strong start by providing early literacy resources to families.
· Read Rockets: Engaging young children to foster a lifelong love of reading and boost early comprehension.
· Little Free Libraries: Expanding book access across neighborhoods so reading material is always within reach.
· Adult Literacy Tutoring: Offering one-on-one support for adult learners looking to improve their reading, writing, and math skills.
· Advanced English Conversation Classes: Helping non-native speakers build communication skills to thrive locally.
As a working board, our members don’t just govern—we actively shape the future of these programs. Whether your strengths lie in community outreach, event planning, finance, or strategic growth, your hands-on involvement will directly change lives right here in Jackson County. More information about our programs and mission can be found on our website and page:
