The organization meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. Helping Hands Kiwanis sponsors two youth organizations called K-Kids and Builders Club at St. John School in Seward. Both of these youth organizations are oriented to service and to helping their school. Currently, Helping Hands Kiwanis is assis

ting these youth groups in raising $70,000 to improve the safety of their playground by installing a cushioned mat surface to protect children from injuries.

Helping Hands Kiwanis club again sponsored the "Josh the Otter" water safety program this year for kindergarteners at three Seward schools prior to summer break. They included St. Vincent dePaul, Seward Elementary School, and St. John School.

Helping Hands Kiwanis Donates to Seward Wellness Center

For more than two and a half years, the Helping Hands Kiwanis Club has been raising funds to donate to a project commitment to fund furnishings for the Kids Watch Room at the new Seward Wellness Center. Their goal in February of 2022 was to donate $20,000 to the project. Through various fundraising efforts and through member and community donations as well as funds secured from the Seward County Gives event, the group was finally able to present a check to Joel Brase, the Seward Wellness Center Director. The presentation caps a long effort to contribute to the well-being of kids, a major focus and goal for Kiwanis and to give back to the community. On hand for the presentation was from left: Justin Goranson, Cara Houk, Rob Koch – Kiwanis president, Karen Koch, Joel Brase – Wellness Center Director, Laura Erickson, Eric Erickson, Ron Petsch, and Tanner Roth – Club Treasurer.

The Seward Helping Hands Kiwanis Club held their Annual Meeting and Officer Installation on October 9. Serving in officer positions for the 2024-25 Kiwanis year are: Rob Koch and Bill Williard, co-presidents; Tanner Roth, Treasurer; and Ron Petsch, Secretary. The Board of Directors for the coming year include Bill Williard, Karen Koch, Terry Kehm, Justin Goranson, Ron Petsch, and Laura Erickson.

Officiating the installation ceremony was past Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis Governor, Lynda Henningsen of La Vista. Lynda also installed the K-Kids and Builders Club officers at St. John School. Helping Hands Kiwanis have sponsored these student leadership organizations for the past 10 years.

Officers for the K-Kids are Nevaeh Harms, president; Aubrey Anderson, Vice President; Grant Brashear, Secretary; and Jacoby Olson, Treasurer. Beth Einsphar is the faculty advisor and has served this role for 10 years.

Officers installed for the Builders Club at St. John School included Oskar Huntington, president; Ellianna Buchli, Vice President; Cambry Placke, Secretary; and Barrett Van Cura, Treasurer. Their faculty advisor is Lyn Stennett who has served for 10 years also in this capacity. SewardKiwanisHelpingHands.org

The St. John School K-Kids and Builders Club had 23 miniature golfers today at the SouthPointe Kiwanis Mini Golf Tounament. Many of the participants went home with a number of the raffle prizes awarded during the event. Helping Hands Kiwanis sponsored the group. Thanks to teachers and advisors, Beth Einspahr and Lyn Stennett.
