Navigation lights are essential both at night and in low visibility. They help you identify a vessel’s direction, movement, and right of way.

Red means give way.
Green means stand on.
White indicates a vessel’s presence or movement.

Understanding navigation lights helps prevent collisions and keeps waterways safe. Always check your lights before heading out.

You asked, we’re answering!

It’s no secret the structure of the Auxiliary can be confusing to those outside or with less experience in the organization. In the coming weeks, we’ll be breaking down the different insignia, what they signify, and how those in positions of leadership assumed those roles.

Do you know the difference between a hurricane watch and warning?

A watch means that tropical storm or hurricane conditions are possible in the area and can be issued up to 48 hours in advance of storm force winds.

A warning means tropical storm or hurricane force conditions are expected in the warning area and can be issued up to 36 hours in advance of storm force winds.

In both situations, you should follow local emergency management guidelines for shelter and safety.
