Our Kenai kitchen has been busy lately! Last week, we set up a DIY sub bar, and everyone did a great job building their own subs. Then yesterday we got back to our Cooking with Friends class and baked not one but two kinds of cookies: chocolate chip, and oatmeal with white chocolate and craisins. They turned out beautifully, and we've even set some aside to share with our friends at TRAILS at our party in the park this Thursday. 🍪

This past Saturday, our Anchorage group headed down to Seward for a day trip, and we had a great turnout!

We started at the Alaska SeaLife Center, getting up close with some amazing sea life and wandering through all the exhibits. Then we took to the town. The harbor, the shops, and a stop at the Seaside Sweet Shop, which was a definite hit. We wrapped up the day with a delicious lunch together at one of Seward's cafes. What a great way to spend a Saturday with great company!

Our Kenai Center's monthly canvas art show is always a highlight, and this month did not disappoint. The theme was "Fun in the Midnight Sun," and we couldn't be prouder of how everyone's paintings turned out.

Our Anchorage group made the trip up to Hatcher Pass Lodge last week for a day well spent. Blue skies, sparkling snow still sitting on the mountains, and plenty of sunshine to soak up - it was one of those days that just calls for getting outside. We had a great lunch on the deck at the Lodge Cafe and took our time enjoying the scenery.

Last week at our Anchorage Center, we tried our hand at baked sushi. If you haven't heard of it before, think of it as a deconstructed California roll. All the good stuff layered into a casserole dish, baked until warm and bubbly, then scooped onto sheets of roasted nori. Comforting, fun to make, and very easy to share.

Our Anchorage crew has been getting out and about a lot in the community recently!

We mingled with friends over coffee at Borealis Coffee House, cooled off with froyo social at Beary Cool Yogurt, took on a round of mini golf at Putters Wild, and wrapped things up with a picnic at Eagle River Town Square. Good company makes every outing, and we had plenty of it this week.

This Saturday, we're heading out of the city for a day trip to Seward - one of Alaska's most scenic coastal towns. We'll be visiting the Alaska SeaLife Center to get up close with some incredible marine life, then taking some time to explore everything Seward has to offer.

If you want to join us, you'll need to sign up in advance to secure your spot. And then meet us in the Hearts & Hands of Care Anchorage parking lot at 10am Saturday morning, ready to go.

The beautiful weather has been good to us in Kenai lately, and we've been making the most of it.

Last week, we headed to the beach for kite flying and a walk along the shore, then stopped in at Flyboys Custard Shop on the way back. A great way to wrap up the week.

And on Monday, we kept the good times rolling outside with a kickball game and root beer floats - another beautiful day to be out and active together.

Open studio at our Anchorage Center last week meant everyone got to choose their own creative direction - rock painting, coloring, crochet, weaving with colored yarn, and more. We also had a tie-dye day, with everyone bringing in their own piece to work on. Layering the colors in was the highlight. You really don't know what you've got until it's done.

Coming up tomorrow in Anchorage, we're getting hands on with ceramic bowl making. Whether you're a first-timer or have tried your hand at clay before, come along and see what you can make!
