We are thrilled to have been joined by members of the Great Plains Literacy Festival committee to hear about all that’s in store for the 2027 event to be held in Seward in April!

Our club is supporting a special project to provide these authors’ books to more than 200 Seward County children. Community members can help by purchasing Cash for a Cause tickets from any Rotarian before November 10th. $10 enters you to win a $100 Seward County gift card.

Today, our District Governor, Gretchen Bren, shared a message focused around the annual theme: Create Lasting Impact.

She challenged us to consider the difference between change and impact. Change is often easy to see in the immediate. Planning for impact requires stronger vision, time, and an understanding of the real needs that exist around us.

Sixpence is a Nebraska-specific service provided to assist parents and their children from pre-natal to preschool. It is jointly provided by the funding of the Buffet Foundation and grant management by the Nebraska Department of Education. Unique to Seward County, our Sixpence provides services to three different school districts, whereas the other Sixpence programs are connected to one school district.

Seward County Sixpence supports 24 children and their families who meet at least one of the following:
•Premature or low birthweight
•Qualify for free and reduced lunch
•Teen parents
•Speak a primary language other than English at home
•Parents have no high school diploma or GED

This voluntary program equips families with the following kinds of services:
•Car Seat Technicians
•Infant massage
•Lactation consultants
•Diapers
•Meeting developmental milestones

Thanks for Morgan Kozisek for sharing with us about Sixpence at Rotary today and for the team who supports families in our county!

Big thanks to Jenn Gjerde, our new Visit Nebraska Executive Director, who joined us at Rotary today! We appreciate the updates about Nebraska tourism and the efforts that happen at the local, county, regional, and state levels to encourage folks inside and outside of the state to spend time here enjoying all we have to offer.

$4.2B in annual visitor spending saves Nebraska households $392 annually in taxes. “We won’t win on mountains or beaches. We will win with humanity.” Who can you share a little piece of Nebraska with to encourage them to enjoy our state?

Nebraska.
All heart.
