💛 So grateful for our partners at the Community Action Committee - Sewanee! As a way of thanking them for being a coalition member, we presented them with an original vase by Appalachian artist Terrie Ponder Watch ().

Run out of the Parish of St. Mark & St. Paul, CAC is doing the quiet, essential work of fighting poverty and hunger across rural Appalachia — focusing its efforts right here in and around the Sewanee, TN community.

Through programs like their food bank and monthly community meals, they make sure no neighbor has to go without. Their impact is felt at every table they fill and every hand they extend.
We're proud to stand alongside them in this work. If you're in the area, consider donating, volunteering, or simply spreading the word — it all matters.

It’s been a busy summer, and we haven’t had a chance to share all that’s been happening at the Community Action Committee!

Every day, CAC continues to support our neighbors through our food pantry and financial assistance programs. During the summer months alone, we welcomed more than 500 visits to the food pantry, providing nutritious food to approximately 1,300 individuals. What an incredible reminder of the need in our community—and of what we can accomplish together.

Thanks to the generosity and support of our community, we’ve been able to help families put food on the table and keep the lights on during challenging times. We are so grateful for every donor, volunteer, and supporter who makes this work possible.

And that’s just what’s been happening through the food pantry! Here’s a look at some of the other ways CAC has been present in the community this summer…

Be sure to come out on Saturday and see how you can get involved in your community!

Want to get involved with something meaningful and larger than yourself but don’t know where to start? Mr. Rogers told us that when we feel this way, we must “Look for the Helpers!”

Join us THIS Saturday, May 9, from 1-5:30 PM at Littell Partin Center for the Helpers Festival!

The Helpers Festival brings all the Helpers to the same place, providing tangible volunteer opportunities for individuals to give back. Any of your strengths or gifts can be put to use by an organization which could really benefit from your help, with groups ranging from Friends of South Cumberland State Parks, Inc. to Housing Hub to the South Cumberland Community Fund.

There will also be artists, musicians, Mike&Betsy's BBQ, Mr. Roger’s screenings, and more for the whole community.
Following the Helpers Festival will be a live square dance, jam session, and sing a long hosted by Abigail Washburn, JAMkids Grundy Area and friends!

We had such a blast at our final Community Meal on Friday! Thank you to everyone who was able to join us. We also took the opportunity to honor our graduating seniors: Mary Margaret, Daphne, and Ian. We are grateful for all their work at CAC over the years!
