On World Labyrinth Day, we hosted a free workshop around our labyrinth on the bluff — and what unfolded was more beautiful than we could have imagined. 🌀

We expected a few neighbors or locals to show up and walk together. Friends, 25 people made their pilgrimage to Sewanee from Mentone, AL, Oak Ridge, TN, and White House, TN. And nearly every one of them was here for the first time.

They were looking for a practice of movement. A practice outdoors. And they found a community of people looking for exactly the same thing.

This is why we do what we do. There is something quietly powerful about walking a labyrinth together — strangers arriving, pilgrims leaving. We are so grateful for everyone who made the journey to New Hope Bluff, and we hope to see you again soon. 🙏🌿

We were so honored to welcome the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee to St. Mary's Sewanee for their Clergy Colloquium in April! Hosting clergy who pour themselves out in service to their congregations — and giving them space to be renewed, reconnected, and refreshed — is a joy and a privilege for our whole community. Thank you to the Diocese for entrusting us with this sacred gathering. We hope the beauty of New Hope Bluff and the warmth of the hospitality of St. Mary's Sewanee stayed with you long after your retreat.

✂️ SoulCollage® Workshop | July 21, 2026 | 9am–4pm

We're so excited to welcome Amy Lyles Wilson and Beth Richardson to St. Mary's Sewanee for a full-day SoulCollage® Workshop!

SoulCollage® is a creative process developed by psychotherapist Seena Frost that uses images, intuition, and self-reflection to build a deeply personal deck of collaged cards — each one a window into your inner world.

In this workshop you'll explore the origins and theory of the method, learn how to select and assemble your materials, begin creating your own deck, and discover how to do readings with your cards for insight and personal transformation. This workshop is also designed to meet the official prerequisite for SoulCollage® Facilitator Training.

No prior art experience is necessary — just bring your curiosity and your soul. 💛

We've been quietly transforming St. Mary's Sewanee — safer kitchen tools, new tech, upgraded sound equipment, fresh plantings at the front door, and a deep investment in the spaces where you come to rest.

Small upgrades. Big exhale.

The prayers of the faithful are bearing fruit, and we can't wait for you to experience the difference. Visit www.stmaryssewanee.org to plan your stay.

What a beautiful evening on the bluff. 🌿

On Tuesday, April 21, we gathered around a shared table for our Food Matters Community Meal — a farm-to-table dinner celebrating Earth Day and the earth that sustains us. Chef Josh and our culinary team crafted a beautiful meal from locally sourced ingredients, in partnership with Professor Deborah McGrath of the University of the South, Southeast Tennessee Young Farmers, and the School of Theology Creation Care Committee. Neighbors, students, farmers, and friends of all backgrounds came together for good food, meaningful conversation, and a warm community welcome. We are so grateful for everyone who joined us. 🌎

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin." —Zechariah 4:10

It started with silicone oven mitts.

When Executive Director Kara Lassen Oliver asked staff to dream about St. Mary's Sewanee three years from now, the kitchen team's wish was simple — safer tools to do their work well. Sixty dollars later, the kitchen team had what they needed.

That spirit has grown into something bigger: new registration software built for spiritual retreat centers, upgraded sound equipment, fresh landscaping, and a renewed commitment to the spaces where you come to rest.

We're taking pride in this place that welcomes you. Because when you arrive to rest, renew, and reconnect, you deserve a space that's ready for you.

"It just feels different here." We hear it often. And we agree.

Your retreat is waiting. Come see what's new — and what has always been here. Visit www.stmaryssewanee.org
