Nuremberg, Germany – 28 September 2026

A significant milestone for the future of pedigree dog breeding and international cynology was achieved today at the World Union of German Shepherd Dogs (WUSV) General Assembly, held at the Meistersingerhalle in Nuremberg, Germany, where the assembly accepted the proposal presented by the FCI General Committee and both organisations 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁.
The agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of professional cooperation between the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and the WUSV, with the shared objective of developing a future comprehensive cooperation agreement based on mutual respect, expertise and common goals.
The Letter of Intent was signed on behalf of the FCI by Dr Tamás Jakkel, President of the FCI, and on behalf of the WUSV by Mrs Roswitha Dannenberg, President of the WUSV.
This historic moment represents a commitment by both organisations to work together on matters of importance to the future of pedigree dogs, responsible breeding and the preservation of breeds through science-based approaches.
A key area of future collaboration will focus on 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 concerning the welfare, breeding and traceability of dogs and cats. The FCI and WUSV will work together to contribute further scientific evidence and expertise regarding responsible pedigree dog breeding, taking into consideration the complete picture of breed preservation, including:
- External conformation and adherence to breed standards
- Health screening and genetic sustainability
- Functional abilities and working characteristics
- Temperament and behavioural evaluation

Both organisations recognise that the future of pedigree dogs must be guided by objective scientific knowledge, practical experience and responsible breeding practices, ensuring that the unique characteristics and purposes of recognised breeds are protected for future generations.
The Letter of Intent also establishes a constructive framework for the amicable resolution of certain legal matters currently pending between the two organisations, reflecting a shared commitment to dialogue and a positive way forward.
The FCI and WUSV share many common objectives, and this agreement reinforces the belief that collaboration is essential to achieving meaningful progress.
“𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿,” said Dr Tamás Jakkel, President of the FCI. “By combining our knowledge, experience and dedication, we can better protect the future of pedigree dogs and promote responsible breeding worldwide.”
The signing of this Letter of Intent marks the beginning of a new chapter, one founded on cooperation, professionalism and a shared responsibility for the future of canine heritage.

Central Virginia Schutzhund Club, was recently targeted by a thief. While our field was inaccessible due to the recent ice storm, someone went "off the beaten path" to steal our brand-new training gear.
The Stolen Items:
6 NEW Gappay Blinds (Yellow)
1 NEW Gappay 1-Meter Jump (Yellow)

The Red Flags:
The thieves knew exactly what they were looking for. They took the brand-new Gappay gear and left behind older equipment that was clearly spray-painted with "CVSC."

The IGP Community is too small for this theft to go unnoticed. We have and are following procedures to notify the local authorities. However, I don't think this theft will be highly investigated. Therefore, it's up to us. If you see a full set of new Gappay blinds or a jump show up at a field where they weren't before, or if you see a "deal too good to be true" on Marketplace in the VA/NC/MD area, please text Rod Davis or me, Jacob Pope
Please share this post to keep this equipment "too hot to handle" in our region!
Thanks
CVSC
