T14P brings our community together through events and fundraising to provide medical-grade wigs to women battling breast cancer. 🎀 Every ride, donation, and helping hand helps restore confidence, dignity, and hope. Our mother battled breast cancer for more than 10 years. She fought hard and beat it long enough to raise her children (her youngest was 19 when she passed). Her children were her life
and she made many sacrifices for them. We, as her children are now stepping up as, "This One's For Patty." In her honor we are searching for people to join us. We are working to restore hope, self esteem and confidence in women who need to know that they are not alone. We can't go through the treatments for them, but we can help them go through it with grace and . . . We, Becca and Anna (Patty's daughters) have donated to wig companies as long as we can remember. After mom passed, it eventually came time for a hair cut. It was also nearing January 12, the anniversary of her passing. To make the date a celebration instead of a day of grief, we decided to cut and donate our hair to benefit another strong lady still in the battle of cancer, in Mom's honor. Becca looked into donating and couldn't find anywhere that in turn gifted the wigs to those in need. She felt a need to remedy this and thought "We could just make our own wigs to donate to someone." An idea was planted and as we spread word, other people started giving us their hair too! We started feeling a sacred obligation to these people for sending years of their life in hair, to us. We started researching getting a wig made and quickly discovered it was an expense that would take us some time to save up for. Then we realized that this is what a non-profit does! We could build a non-profit, build a community of people who's life has been touched by cancer . . . Now, Joe and Josh (Patty's sons) are both contributing their lovely locks this year. We collect hair donations year round with an annual hair drive on January 12th. We are starting other fundraising events including a St. Patty's Day 5k fun run (virtual for 2021).
