📣 NEXT WEEK! Join MD SHRM June 24 | 12:00–1:00 PM for a Learning Lab Legislative Update you need to hear!

Please join SHRM Maryland's free annual Legislative Overview Learning Lab. Aisha Jorge Massengill, a member of our Legislative Action Group, representing SHRM Howard County as their current Legislative Director. She also serves on the Howard County Chamber of Commerce’s Employment Law Committee and is an experienced employment attorney.

She will provide a comprehensive review of employment-related legislation from the most recent Maryland General Assembly session. Participants will gain insight into key laws that were enacted, as well as significant proposals that did not pass but remain important for future consideration. The discussion will include federal trends impacting workplace policies, compliance obligations, and HR practices. We will touch on how HR Advocacy helps shape outcomes.

Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how legislative developments translate into actionable strategies for HR leaders, enabling them to anticipate change, mitigate risk, and support their organizations effectively.

Leading Through Uncertainty and Shifting Priorities with Erica Reed. Uncertainty changes how people communicate, react, and connect—especially during times of pressure and shifting priorities. Join Erica Reed as she shares practical, human‑centered strategies to help HR and people leaders navigate stress, ambiguity, and evolving expectations with clarity, confidence, and empathy, even when all the answers aren’t yet available.

• Identify the core values, communication preferences, and workplace expectations of each generation currently represented on their team — and recognize how those differences create both friction and opportunity.
• Identify how stress and uncertainty influence employee reactions, communication patterns, and their ability to adapt during periods of change.
• Apply a simple, practical framework to coach managers on communicating clearly, consistently, and confidently—even when information is evolving or incomplete.
Implement effective strategies to manage increased demands, prevent burnout, and maintain personal effectiveness while supporting others through organizational change.

Join us TOMORROW!! June 11 | 12:00–1:00 PM for an engaging Lunch & Learn you’ll be glad you attended.

A New Kind of Diversity: Turning Generational Tension into Competitive Advantage with Kelly Lippenholz. Up to five generations are working side by side—and the tension is real. We joke online about generational differences, but at work they show up as miscommunication, disengagement, and lost productivity. This high‑energy, story‑driven session dives into generational diversity as the most overlooked workplace challenge—and shows leaders how to turn differences into connection and strength.

• Identify the core values, communication preferences, and workplace expectations of each generation currently represented on their team — and recognize how those differences create both friction and opportunity.
• Apply practical communication tools to reduce cross-generational misunderstandings and increase clarity, trust, and collaboration.
• Develop strategies to build intergenerational bridges through mentorship, feedback, and shared purpose — transforming generational tension into higher engagement, morale, and retention.
