📚 September is Attendance Awareness Month! 🎉

To kick off Sherman High School's Attendance Awareness Campaign, we will be holding a $25 gift card drawing every Friday throughout September!

Here's how it works:

âś… Attend school every day during the week.
âś… If you have no absences that week, your name will be entered into that Friday's drawing.
âś… One winner will be selected from a random drawing each Friday to receive a $25 gift card.

Miss a day? Don't worry! Every week is a new opportunity. If you're absent one week, you can still qualify for the following week's drawing by having perfect attendance.

Let's make attendance a priority and start the year strong. Show up, stay engaged, and you could win!

Sherman Tide Students and Families,

If you or your student is enrolled in a dual credit course at Sherman High School, an Early Enrollment/Dual Credit Application must be completed through West Virginia State University. This application only needs to be completed once during a student's high school career, but it is required in order for students to receive college credit for their dual credit courses.

Students who do not complete the application will still attend the class and complete the same coursework as their peers; however, they will not receive college credit for the course.

The enrollment process requires the following:

âś… Complete and sign two required forms
âś… Complete the online Early Enrollment application

This primarily affects freshmen and new students. The required forms have already been distributed to students.

While Sherman High School staff cannot complete the application on a student's behalf, we are happy to sit down with students and assist them through the process. However, a parent/guardian signature is required on the forms before we can provide assistance.

The deadline for dual credit enrollment is Thursday, September 3.

If your student did not receive the required paperwork, the forms and application can be accessed using the link below:

📚 Sherman High School Attendance Reminder for Families 📚

At Sherman High School, we are doing everything we can to make attendance reporting as easy as possible for parents and guardians.

âś… Submit Parent Notes Online using our attendance QR code.

âś… Medical Excuses Can Be Emailed by simply taking a picture of the doctor's note and sending it to [email protected]

âś… Chronic Medical Forms Must Be Renewed Each School Year. If your student has a chronic medical condition, please remember that a new Chronic Medical Form must be completed each academic year.

âś… Don't Forget the Deadline! Attendance notes and medical excuses must be submitted within three (3) days of your student's return to school. After that period, State code requires the absence to be coded as unexcused.

đź’™ We're Here to Help.

The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS), Bureau for Family Assistance will begin accepting school clothing allowance applications on Monday, July 20, 2026, for eligible children enrolled in West Virginia schools. All families must apply and may do so online at www.wvpath.wv.gov or by requesting a paper application be mailed to them by contacting their local DOHS office or by calling 1-877-716-1212. Applications will be accepted until August 15, 2026, or until the available funds are fully allocated, whichever occurs first. To be eligible for approval, applications must reach the local office before the program closes.

The program’s opening had been on hold amid uncertainty over the state’s federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funding. Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that West Virginia has ensured that the funding needed to open the program for families this year will be available.

“We are doing this the right way, and we’re working to make funding streams last. COVID-era reliance on one-time money helped create these challenges, so now we are working to put this program on solid footing. Starting July 20, West Virginia families can apply for the School Clothing Allowance,” said Governor Patrick Morrisey.

Each eligible child will receive a $200 benefit that may be used toward the purchase of appropriate school clothing or piece goods for families who sew clothing for their children.

The monthly income for a family of four for the school clothing program may not exceed $3,483. Verification of income for July 2026 must be submitted with the application.

Income Limits for the School Clothing Allowance Program for 2026: (see below)

School clothing allowance program recipients will receive payments on their electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card. This allows for both online transactions and an increased choice of vendors when purchasing school clothing or piece goods. The EBT card will operate like a debit card and can be used at any retailer who accepts EBT cash transactions. Parents or guardians of children in foster care will receive the school clothing allowance benefit as a check.

Those needing to update their address may do so at www.wvpath.wv.gov or by calling DoHS’s Customer Service Center at 1-877-716-1212.

🚍 Attention Tide Community! 🚸
Summer school is officially in session, and that means our students are back to learning—and riding the bus!
⚠️ Please take a moment to help keep our kids safe:

Watch carefully for school buses—especially during morning and afternoon routes
Stop when bus stop arms are extended
Slow down and obey all posted school zone speed limits
Stay alert in areas where children may be walking

Even during the summer months, student safety remains our top priority. Let’s work together to make sure everyone gets to and from school safely! 💛
