Ripple of One Founder Stephanie Enders recently spoke with the Anderson Safety Net Council about the Subsidy Cliff and how Ripple is rethinking the path from public assistance to financial independence—one family at a time.

A raise, promotion, or additional hours can sometimes reduce essential benefits before a family is financially prepared to replace them. Through financial education, coaching, mentorship, incentives, and community partnerships, Ripple helps families build the stability and confidence to move forward sustainably.

As we expand in Anderson County, we’re grateful to connect with organizations and leaders committed to strengthening pathways for local families.

’re working. You’re providing for your family. You’re doing your best to make responsible decisions.

So why can it still feel so difficult to get ahead?

Rising everyday costs can put additional strain on working families. Groceries cost more. Housing takes a larger piece of the budget. Transportation, childcare, utilities, and unexpected expenses can quickly compete for the money that's left.

And for parents navigating public assistance, increasing income can introduce another challenge: the Benefits Cliff. A raise or additional work hours may reduce certain benefits before a family has built enough financial stability to comfortably absorb those costs.

That's why financial independence is about more than simply earning more.

It's about learning how to plan for what you earn, build savings, prepare for unexpected expenses, strengthen financial habits, pursue career growth, and make informed decisions about what comes next.

At Ripple of One, you don't have to navigate that journey by yourself.

Participants receive mentorship, financial coaching, goal-setting, incentives, and ongoing support designed to help families build greater stability and work toward financial independence.

The cost of living may have changed.

Your goals for your family don't have to.

If you're a working parent in the Upstate who is ready to build a stronger financial future, we'd love to hear from you.

🔑 WE GOT THE KEYS, ANDERSON! 🎉💙

There are some keys that open more than a door.

Today, Heather, our Ripple of One Care Specialist, officially received the keys to our new Anderson office at St. John’s United Methodist Church! ♥️

For us, these keys represent growth, opportunity, and a new home for Ripple’s work in the Anderson community.

As Ripple of One continues to expand across the Upstate, having a dedicated presence in Anderson means we can deepen relationships with local families, volunteers, community partners, and organizations—and make it easier for participants to access the support they need as they work toward lasting financial stability and independence.

And we couldn't be more excited about what comes next.

New office. New partnerships. More families. More ripples. 🌊

A very special thank you to St. John’s United Methodist Church for opening its doors to Ripple of One and helping us establish deeper roots in Anderson. Community partnerships like this make growth possible, and we are incredibly grateful to have a place from which we can serve, connect, and grow.

📍 Hello, —we're officially putting down roots!

And Heather… those keys look pretty good in your hand. 🔑😉🎉

When organizations work together, families gain access to even more opportunities to move forward. ♥️

We’re excited to welcome The LOT Project as a new Ripple of One community partner!

Heather, Ripple of One Care Specialist, recently met with Bethany from The LOT Project to begin building our dual-enrollment partnership for participants of The Village Homes—bringing together the strengths, relationships, and resources of both organizations to support families as they work toward greater stability and independence.

The LOT Project’s Village Homes provides transitional housing and a renewed sense of home for neighbors in the Anderson community. Through this new partnership, eligible Village Homes participants will have an opportunity to engage with Ripple of One and continue building toward their financial and personal goals with an expanded community of support around them.

This is what community partnership can look like: not duplicating efforts, but connecting them.

More relationships. More resources. More people invested in seeing families succeed.

We are so excited about what Ripple of One + The LOT Project can accomplish together—and we can’t wait to see the ripples this partnership creates throughout Anderson. 💙♥️

Welcome to the Ripple, The LOT Project!

What happens when we support parents and invest in children?

We create the opportunity for progress to reach beyond one generation. 💙

At Ripple of One, we believe building financial stability is a family journey. While parents work with mentors and coaches to strengthen financial habits, pursue goals, build savings, and create greater stability, their children grow right alongside them.

Through our Little Ripplers program, children have opportunities to learn, develop, and experience the principles their parents are putting into practice.

Because children are always learning from what they see.

They see a parent set a goal and follow through. They experience what it feels like when an unexpected expense doesn't have to become a crisis. They hear new conversations about saving, planning, work, and the future. And they begin developing their own understanding of what stability can look like.

That's the power of multigenerational support.

We're not only helping a parent navigate the circumstances of today. We're creating opportunities for families to build knowledge, confidence, relationships, and habits that can influence what comes next.

Empower the parent.
Invest in the child.
Strengthen the next generation.

That's how one family's progress becomes a ripple.

💙 Want to be part of it? Become a mentor and help a family build toward lasting financial stability.

Congresswoman Sheri Biggs, inspired by Brooke's story (a Ripple participant), invited her to the White House! Here's the story...

The most important part of Brooke's trip to Washington, D.C. didn't happen in Washington.... It happened on the side of the road.

Ripple participant Brooke was driving to Charleston with her daughter when their alternator failed. The repair would cost approximately $750—and they had just paid rent. Her daughter became frightened and started crying. But Brooke didn't panic.

Instead, she reassured her: "Don't worry. Life happens. This is why we plan with purpose."

Brooke had built an emergency savings fund. She had the car towed. Paid for the repair. And continued the vacation with her daughter. In another season of her life, an unexpected $750 expense could have become a financial crisis.

This time, it became a lesson. Her daughter got to witness what saving, planning, and financial stability can make possible.

Months later, when Congresswoman Sheri Biggs visited Ripple of One, Brooke shared her story. Inspired by her determination and progress, Congresswoman Biggs invited Brooke and her family to Washington, D.C., where they toured the White House.

It was an extraordinary experience. But the real transformation had already happened and we are so proud of Brooke's dedication that lead to this opportunity!

A mother looked at her daughter during an unexpected expense and replaced fear with confidence. It's moments like these that keep us inspired.

Congratulations Brooke!

Our Volunteer Care Dinner at our Greenville location at Upstate Warrior Solution was such a fun and meaningful evening! 🤩♥️

We spent time with our incredible volunteers talking through the benefits/subsidy cliff, answering questions, and sharing how Ripple of One is working to help families navigate this challenge. Be sure to swipe through the graphics to learn more about what the benefits cliff is and why it matters.

And of course, we had some fun too! KK Guess, one of our MVP volunteers, captured these moments during our icebreaker, where everyone had to figure out the character on their forehead by asking questions. The two volunteers who collected the most Post-it notes even walked away with prizes! 🏆

We’re so thankful for volunteers who show up, ask questions, learn alongside us, and continue pouring into the mission of Ripple of One. ♥️

🎉 Congratulations, Maggi! 🎉

We are so excited to celebrate Maggi, an Oconee Ripple of One participant, on officially completing the Ripple of One program! ❤️

At her final Team Meeting, Maggi received her Ripple Matched Savings check and is walking away with a fully funded emergency fund! Even more impressive, she worked hard, stayed committed, and made budget every single month. 👏

A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who walked alongside her throughout this journey, Tom Mowry, Financial Coach, and Edie Allen, Mentor.

Maggi, we are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and excited for what’s ahead! 🎉
