Looking for easy ways to get started? Here are a few ideas to try:

🛍️ Bring a reusable bag — Keep a few in your car so you're always ready for your next shopping trip!

👕 Shop secondhand — Give pre-loved clothing, furniture, and other treasures a new life instead of always buying new.

🍎 Choose fresh produce — Shop for fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables when possible, and plan meals to help reduce food waste.

🌊 Litter doesn’t take a vacation — and neither does our responsibility to the planet.

Our Executive Director was out of Oconee this past weekend enjoying a little vacation in Myrtle Beach. While walking along the beach, she spotted trash in the sand.

It wasn’t hers. She didn’t put it there. But she picked it up anyway. ♻️

Why? Because that piece of litter had the potential to wash back into the ocean, where it could harm sea life, wildlife, and the health of our environment.

And honestly, this post isn’t a pat on the back for our ED. It’s a reminder for all of us. 💚

We have a responsibility to take care of the places we live, work, visit, and enjoy. Litter doesn’t belong to someone else just because we didn’t create it.

So the next time you see a piece of litter, pick it up. 🗑️🌱

One piece may seem small, but every piece we remove is one less piece that can harm wildlife, pollute our waterways, or damage our beautiful Earth.

Leave it better than you found it. 🌎💚

🚨 PSA: Pollution is bad. Like… REALLY bad. 😅🌎

Air pollution. Land pollution. Water pollution. Different types, same problem: we’re making a mess of the place we all call home.

Litter, dumping, chemicals, trash, and other pollutants don’t just disappear. They can harm wildlife, damage our natural spaces, contaminate our water, and affect the air we breathe.

And honestly? Oconee is way too beautiful for that. 💚

KOBA is working to help prevent litter and pollution, educate our community, and protect the natural beauty that makes Oconee County special.

So let’s make a deal: if it doesn’t belong in nature, don’t leave it there.Pick it up. Pack it out. Dispose of it properly. And encourage someone else to do the same.

Because keeping Oconee beautiful isn't just KOBA's job—it's something we can all be part of. 🌿

🚨 KNOW THE LAW: LITTER, ILLEGAL DUMPING & UNCOVERED LOADS

Keeping Oconee County beautiful starts with knowing the rules—and doing our part. 🌿

In South Carolina:

🗑️ Littering & Illegal Dumping
It is against state law to dump, throw, drop, deposit, or otherwise dispose of litter or solid waste on public or private property without permission. Illegal dumping can include larger quantities of waste and carries penalties under South Carolina law.

🚛 Secure Your Load
Before you hit the road, make sure your load is properly secured. South Carolina law requires vehicles to be loaded in a way that prevents materials from dropping, sifting, leaking, blowing, or otherwise escaping onto public highways.

That means the trash, furniture, yard debris, boxes, and other materials in your truck or trailer need to stay in your truck or trailer—not on our roadsides. 🛻
