Northwest Hospital Foundation

Northwest Hospital Foundation We secure and allocate resources for funding projects exclusively in support of UPMC Northwest.

The Northwest Hospital Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a tax-exempt charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Code section 501 (c)(3). The Northwest Hospital Foundation is considered a "public charity" by virtue of its direct support of UPMC Northwest Hospital, which is also tax-exempt. Our philanthropic philosophy is to thoughtfully enhance the health care

of our community by making financial resources available to UPMC Northwest in its mission to deliver high-quality services to the residents of the region. We will fund programs and activities that go above and beyond what an established health care system would generally be expected to provide. Most often, that purpose is accomplished through fund development which supports capital purchases/improvements, technology, equipment, education, care for indigent patients and patient hardship needs. All gifts are processed through the Foundation, where they are recorded, donors recognized, and gifts earmarked for specific purposes and are carefully monitored. Each year, the Foundation provides approximately $250,000 to UPMC Northwest in uncompensated care for indigent patients and over $200,000 in new technology. In addition, smaller donations are made to areas where donors have directed specific funding. Sources of funds coming into the Foundation for disbursement include individual, corporate, group donations, special fundraisers and grants. The Foundation is governed by a board of directors and has two full-time staff. The Foundation administrative offices are located at Seneca Place professional building. Theresa Edder is the Executive Director and can be reached at (814)676-7145.

We are so proud to partner with United Way of Venango and Titusville Region and the McElhattan Foundation to bring the Imagination Library to babies born at UPMC Northwest. Through this partnership, newborns and their families have discovered the gift of books and a lifelong love of reading. Rest in peace, Dolly. 🕊

Last Thursday over 300 local cancer survivors and their families gathered at UPMC Northwest for a Cancer Survivors Picnic hosted by the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and sponsored by the Northwest Hospital Foundation. The carnival-themed picnic celebrated the courage and perseverance of cancer survivors in our community with free popcorn, cotton candy, finger painting, photo booth, picnic dinner, and gift card giveaways.

Guest speakers included Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Patient Care Services Kristen Maguire, radiation oncologist Dr. Edward Marchan, and medical physicist Damian Rudder. Dr. Marchan announced that, thanks to a generous gift from donors to the Northwest Hospital Foundation, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) will soon be available at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Northwest. SBRT delivers advanced, highly targeted radiation to tumors.

Thank you to all staff who assisted with the picnic and our very generous Foundation donors who made all of this possible! 💚
