A true trailblazer for South Carolina Veterans has taken her final rest. 🕊️

Past Department Commander (PDC) Marian J. Truscello passed away on August 26 at 96 years young, leaving behind a legacy of selfless service. A proud veteran nurse in the United States Air Force, Marian dedicated her life to caring for others in and out of uniform.

Over her 55+ years with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Marian broke barriers, becoming the first female Commander for the DAV Department of South Carolina and served as a past DAV 9th District Commander. She was a lifetime member of D&D Whitman Chapter 51 of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

Her dedication inspired us all and her impact will never be forgotten.

Services for PDC Truscello:

• Visitation: Friday, Sept 4 (6–8 PM) @ Barr-Price Funeral Home, Batesburg-Leesville
• Funeral Service: Saturday, Sept 5 (1:00 PM) @ Pond Branch Methodist Church
• Entombment: Christ the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Ridge Crest Memorial Park

The Columbia VA Health Care System will host a Veterans Town Hall on Monday, Aug. 31, at 11:00 a.m.

This event offers local Veterans the opportunity to hear important updates, ask questions, share concerns, and connect directly with VA leadership and staff. Attendees can participate either in person or virtually.
