My husband and grand babies planted a wild flower and sunflower garden and because I have a small dehydrator I decided to dehydrate some sunflower leaves and the stems of those leaves.

My tiny little dehydrator has been working its mother board off! I typically use it for roses as treats for the buns.

If you didn’t know rabbits can eat every part of a sunflower EXCEPT we don’t give the seeds because they are extremely fatty like you eating a big ole mouthful of lard yuck!

This project has taken more time than I anticipated only because of my cheap little dehydrator (not complaining.)

We only use natural pesticide methods (neem oil or predatory bugs like ladybugs) not chemical pesticides to support and protect our pollinators.
We use the natural fertilizer from the buns as well. If you decide to give your rabbits anything from outside make sure you know if it has been treated with chemicals or not if you’re unsure assume it’s toxic.

The flowers in the pictures are wild flowers (I don’t feed to the rabbits as I’m not sure what these are just a mix of seeds) and sunflowers.🌻

Not every story is a happy one.

Not every story is a happy one.

Every single time we share a difficult story, we lose followers.

After sharing Linda From Accounting’s story, we lost over a dozen people almost immediately.

That’s okay.

No matter how badly we want it to be, rescue isn’t all sunshine, happy endings, and cute binky videos.

Sometimes rescue looks like neglect.
Sometimes it looks like abandonment.
Sometimes it looks like medical emergencies. Sometimes it looks like suffering.

And neglected bunnies deserve to have their stories told too.

People are used to seeing dog and cat rescues share hard cases. Starving dogs. Injured cats. Abuse cases. Nobody questions why those stories are posted, because everyone understands that advocacy requires visibility.

But for some reason, when it comes to rabbits, there’s this expectation that rescue should stay soft and cheerful all the time. That we should only post the cute parts.

The reality is: the exact same things happen to rabbits every single day.

They are dumped outside.
They are neglected.
They are left without medical care.
They are bred irresponsibly.
They suffer silently because they are prey animals and prey animals hide pain incredibly well.

And unlike us, they cannot speak up for themselves.

So we do it for them.

We share these stories because if we don’t, nobody sees what’s happening to them. Nobody understands why education matters. Nobody understands why rescuing bunnies is even a thing.

The uncomfortable stories are part of rescue too because rabbits don’t just matter when they’re healthy and ready for adoption.

They mattered while suffering too.

And as long as rabbits continue experiencing these things, we will continue advocating for them - even when it’s uncomfortable.

Hey y’all!
I’ve been thinking about how to continue my social media presence for education and what better way than to just share my experiences and continuing to assist rabbit owners with updating their knowledge and care for their precious little bun buns. I’m still a legitimate registered nonprofit until I bring myself to accept that one group of individuals in a local community helped this happen and I can be at peace with that. I’m just not there yet.

Not everyone has the ability to give an entire room to a bun but the space a rabbit needs should be considered BEFORE adopting or housing any.

I want to share my little precious buns with you. Four of my buns I took in before I started the rescue and added two after the rescue. One has passed (RIP my little Piggy Puppy Nova) and the other two at the time immediately groomed me when I was giving them a look over and if you know buns a bun who grooms you absolutely trust and loves you!

Since transferring my rescues to Dolly’s I’ve been able to clean up and redo the bunny room. It’s now my buns room/den/extra room for our grandkids when they stay over. It’s a huge area that was a double car garage at one time. Complete insulated and climate controlled.

My 4 buns that are two pairs now have a 5’x8’ space and my newest guy rescued locally after being dumped has a smaller space to litter box train while waiting his neuter appointment. He needs to put the weight back on but I’ll share his story later.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. No questions is too “dumb” because if you don’t know you won’t know unless you ask.

Dig you know some bunnies wag their tails?
Look at this sweet baby just so excited and happy to be digging and exploring earth that he’s got his little tail wagging.
