We had a lot going on today at the airfield with parachutists jumping as well as Senator Stewart visiting one of our favorite tenants to make a donation.

✨ A HUGE thank you to Alabama District 23 State Senator Robert Stewart for stopping by today with $15,000 in support to the Selma Area Food Bank! It was great to not only receive the check, but to also immediately show Senator Stewart how the funds will be used!🙌

This incredible gift will help us distribute thousands of meals to families across our service area. 💙 Together, we’re making sure our neighbors don’t have to face hunger alone.

We are so grateful for leaders like Senator Stewart who believe in strengthening our community! 🥫🍎

The airport lost one of it’s biggest supporters today in the passing of past Operations Director and Fire Chief, James Stewart Corley.
Mr Corley had a long career at the airport that spanned almost fifty years. He moved to Selma while in the Air Force where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was a federal civilian employee next, then a private contractor, and finally he was the first hire made when CFAIA was opened in 1979. From 1979 to early 2020 Mr Corley served the airport and fire department with a devotion that will be sorely missed.
Please keep his family, fellow firefighters, and Craig coworkers in your prayers as they recover from such a great loss.

The airport staff were proud to play host to yet another group of youth today that were eager to learn more about airport operations. They were on a field trip with the Pine Glen STEM camp hosted by the residents association, and Rev. Stephen Smith.
They got to tour AeroPro’s aircraft maintenance facilities, witness a wrecked plane being salvaged in another hangar, toured the Craig Fire Dept., and they got to meet Schantel, and the staff, at the Selma FBO where they got complimentary cotton candy!

The first order of memorial brinks have been laid and we would like to encourage you to spread the word. Please share with others outside of this page! If you or a family member served on Craig we would love to have your service recognized.

Since they will be available for military and civilian personnel please include the highest rank attained if military to denote the difference. It might also be nice to include everyone’s dates of service or even when they completed training here.

The following sizes are available:
1. $50 4 x8 brick paver- 3 lines
2. $100 8 x 8 brick paver- 6 lines
3. $175 12 × 12 brick paver- 12 lines
(15 characters per line on all bricks)
4. If a class wanted to pull together I even see some benches that would run about $750 engraved and installed.

A special thanks to Senator Robert Stewart for providing the funding that made such big news for our community possible, and to WCCS for spearheading such a complex training program.
Landing planes is important business but that won’t matter if we don’t train the next generation of pilots to fly them. Today’s announcement helps address the nationwide shortage of aviation workers while providing a clear path for blackbelt youth to high paying careers.
