Yesterday, our President/CEO, Kennard Randolph, had the honor of facilitating a Commissioners Roundtable at the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) Annual Convention alongside Sean Whatley, General Counsel for the St. Paul Public Housing Agency.
The roundtable brought together housing authority commissioners from across the nation for a meaningful discussion on the critical role commissioners play in advancing the mission of public housing agencies. Topics included board governance, fiduciary responsibilities, strategic planning, policy development, ethical leadership, HUD compliance, and the importance of maintaining strong partnerships between governing boards and executive leadership.
Participants shared experiences, challenges, and innovative solutions from their respective agencies, creating a valuable opportunity for peer learning and collaboration. The discussion also explored the evolving landscape of affordable housing, workforce development, resident engagement, strategies for ensuring long-term organizational sustainability.
As a housing authority executive and national housing leader, Mr. Randolph emphasized the importance of effective governance, continuous education, and visionary leadership in addressing the complex housing needs facing communities today. He encouraged commissioners to remain engaged, informed, and committed to serving residents while fostering accountability and transparency within their organizations.
We are proud to see Mr. Randolph representing the Selma Housing Authority and contributing to national conversations that help strengthen public housing agencies across the country.
