There was a time when leaving felt impossible.

Fear whispered that life couldn't be different. That there was nowhere to go. That starting over would only lead to more uncertainty. Every reason to stay seemed louder than every reason to leave.

Then came one decision. One phone call. One packed bag. One trusted friend. One step toward a future that once felt out of reach.
That first step didn't require having all the answers. It only required believing that something better was possible.

And something remarkable happened.

The confidence that once seemed impossible began to grow. Peace slowly replaced fear. Hope returned. What once felt out of reach became part of everyday life. One day, looking back, it became clear that the strength to make that journey had been there all along.

Position Title: Shelter Resource Advocate

About the Role:
SABRA Sanctuary is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dedicated Part-Time Shelter Resource Advocate to support individuals and families accessing shelter and supportive services. The Shelter Resource Advocate will provide advocacy, crisis intervention, resource referrals, and case management support to help clients achieve safety, stability, and self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct client intake assessments and assist with service planning.
Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy.
Connect clients with community resources, including housing, healthcare, employment, transportation, and social services.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation.
Assist clients in identifying goals and developing action plans.
Collaborate with community agencies and service providers.
Support shelter operations and participate in program activities as needed.
Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working in social services, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or a related field preferred.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Knowledge of community resources and service systems is a plus.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and recordkeeping.

Schedule:
Part-time position.

SABRA Sanctuary is Hiring – Part-Time Financial Officer

SABRA Sanctuary is seeking a Part-Time Financial Officer to help support and strengthen victim services in Alabama’s Black Belt. This role helps ensure the financial stability of programs that provide crisis intervention, shelter, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence in Dallas, Perry, Wilcox, Marengo, Sumter, and Greene counties.

If you have bookkeeping or accounting experience and want to use your skills to support a mission that directly impacts local families and communities, we would love to hear from you.

Position Details
• Approximately 20 - 28 hours per week.
• Flexible business schedule
• Reports to the Executive Director

Responsibilities Include
• Maintaining financial records and reconciliations
• Processing invoices, payments, and financial transactions
• Preparing payroll
• Generating financial reports
• Assisting with financial documentation for grant-funded programs

Qualifications
• Experience with bookkeeping or accounting support
• Knowledge of Quickbooks, Excel, and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred
• Experience with nonprofit financial management
• Experience tracking or reporting for grant-funded programs

This role may be a great fit for an experienced bookkeeper, accounting professional, or someone seeking flexible part-time work while contributing to an important community mission.
