May is Water Safety Month! Did you know your swim suit color matters? Check out this important piece of information from our friends at Safe Kids North Carolina

Do you know the best swimsuit color for your child's safety? Many parents select swimsuits based on style, cuteness, or comfort. However, those factors become irrelevant once a child goes underwater! In order to spot your child quickly if there's an emergency, it's important to pick the right swimsuit colors for safety is more significant than most people realize.

🌊Water absorbs light unevenly, making only a few select colors stand out from under the surface.

☀️Neon yellow & neon green stand out, while blues, oranges, and pinks disappear completely underwater due to glare & color distortion in pools.

🤽Chlorine, ripples, and bright sunlight scatter light, making white and light pastels look like surface reflections.

Happy Monday Morning! ☀️
We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who gave their time and energy to make our Operation Medicine Drop event on Saturday, April 25 such a success!
A huge shout-out to our amazing partners:

Our Coordinator, Jennifer Evans Williams
The Captain and two officers from Smithfield, NC Police Department
Mary Lahr Cain with Be SMART for Kids
Kimetha from the Johnston County Health Department Johnston County Government

Together, we collected 9 pounds of unused and expired medications! 💊👏

It was definitely a HOT day — at one point, the temperature inside the car of our Hot Car Display reached 133 degrees.

We also want to thank everyone who shared our event and showed up to safely dispose of their medications. Your support truly makes a difference!

We were grateful to have Allison E Boyd, Chair of the Board of Directors for our Lead Agency Partnership for Children of Johnston County, stop by to drop off medications and show her support.
Thank you all for helping keep our community safe and healthy!
