Thank you to our friends at Clayton Fire Department for spreading the message about Hot Car Awareness. Never leave a child, elderly, special needs person, or pet in a car not even for a minute. Your quick stop could easily turn into 20 and that could turn into a tragedy. Be on the look out for more information from Safe Kids in the coming days regarding Hot Cars and heat related safety.

The results are in. Today's peak outdoor temperature reached 94.1°F outside Clayton Fire Station 1. Inside the vehicle, the temperature climbed to 170°F.

Thank you to Safe Kids Johnston County for partnering with us to bring this important safety reminder to our community.

Most importantly, let this be a reminder: Never leave children, pets, or anyone who depends on you in a parked vehicle. Even a few minutes can make a life-threatening difference.

May is Water Safety Month! Did you know your swim suit color matters? Check out this important piece of information from our friends at Safe Kids North Carolina

Do you know the best swimsuit color for your child's safety? Many parents select swimsuits based on style, cuteness, or comfort. However, those factors become irrelevant once a child goes underwater! In order to spot your child quickly if there's an emergency, it's important to pick the right swimsuit colors for safety is more significant than most people realize.

🌊Water absorbs light unevenly, making only a few select colors stand out from under the surface.

☀️Neon yellow & neon green stand out, while blues, oranges, and pinks disappear completely underwater due to glare & color distortion in pools.

🤽Chlorine, ripples, and bright sunlight scatter light, making white and light pastels look like surface reflections.
