This evening, members of Troop 419 participated in our chartering organization's Flag Retirement Ceremony at Selinsgrove VFW Post 6631 in honor of Flag Day. The Scouts helped during the ceremony by conducting the traditional 13 folds of the American flag, with each fold representing a symbolic meaning and serving as a reminder of the respect and gratitude we owe to our nation and those who have served it. The troop then helped retire worn and unserviceable flags with the dignity and respect they deserve.

The evening also included the dedication of an Eagle Scout project completed by a Scout from Troop 441. Congratulations on this accomplishment and thank you to the Selinsgrove VFW Post 6631 for your continued support of Scouting and our troop.

This evening our patrols decided to divide and conquer multiple activities at once. The Cobra Patrol and Sneaky Elephants plus one spent the evening on Scout Island. The Cobras enjoyed fishing and the Sneaky Elephants plus one worked on advancements and helped plant native pawpaw trees. They both practiced flag etiquette.

Most of the Strawberry Cow Patrol spent the evening providing service to Kidsgrove Playground planting and maintaining the garden they adopted and painting stones to help beautify the park.

Great job Scouts!

Congratulations Conor!

I was pleased to recognize Conor Moyer Necessary of Shamokin Dam on earning the rank of Eagle Scout during his ceremony at Selinsgrove VFW Post 6631.

Conor is a member of Troop 419 and has built an impressive record of leadership and service throughout his years in Scouting. He earned 38 merit badges, completed 25 service projects totaling 69 hours, camped 48 nights and became the 119th Eagle Scout from Troop 419.

For his Eagle Scout project, Conor made improvements to Kidsgrove Playground in Selinsgrove, including fence repairs, new roofing for the front bulletin board and train station, and the installation of three new activity panels for children.

Congratulations to Conor, his parents Jeffery and Heather, his brother Lane, and everyone who supported him along the way. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a tremendous accomplishment, and I wish Conor continued success as he prepares to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology and pursue graphic design.

Today Troop 419 celebrated our 119th Eagle Scout - Conor Necessary! Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!!!

Troop 419 is proud to congratulate Logan, Gavin and Jackson for completing National Youth Leadership Training. NYLT is a national level training that challenges Scouts to grow as leaders, work as a team and build confidence that they can bring back to their troop and community.

We are also very proud of our Troop 419 Scouts, both current members and Eagle Scouts, who helped staff the course and make the experience possible for others. Thank you to Cameron, Liam, Nate, Cole and NYLTโ€™s 2026 male Senior Patrol Leader Zach Martin for your time, leadership and dedication to Scouting.

We love seeing Troop 419 Scouts continuing to lead and give back.
