💜 We are honored to proclaim October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month at many County Commissioner Court and City Council meetings.

🗣️Every day is an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic violence, honor survivors, and educate others about healthy and unhealthy relationships; but October hits just a lil different.

The Cities of Stockdale and La Vernia have joined our efforts in raising awareness and sharing education about domestic violence.

Please join us for more upcoming Domestic Violence Proclamations:
• Oct. 13th Gonzales County, Guadalupe and Karnes County, Cities of Kenedy, Runge and Schertz

Did you know that in 2025 160 Texans lost their lives to domestic violence?

It's a hard truth...

💥 Domestic abuse IS real!

The Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) identified 160 Texans killed by a current or former intimate partner.

▪️Of the 160 killed, 136 were women and 24 were men.
▪️Of the women, 5 were pregnant when they were killed, and their 5 unborn children also died.
▪️Nine victims were identified in the available data as LGBTQIA+ and were killed by same-sex intimate partners.
▪️As a result of these 160 homicides, 128 minor children and 95 adult children lost one or both parents.

Hot diggity dog... how great is this?!?!

Thriving Hearts Crisis Center was one of the local nonprofit organizations chosen to be part of TLU's H.O.T. Dog Days.

Texas Lutheran University's H.O.T. Dogs Day (Helping Others Together) is a bi-annual campus tradition of community service held once each semester in the fall and spring.

• Students, faculty, and staff volunteer at local nonprofits, churches, and service sites across Seguin and surrounding areas.
• The event is organized by the Center for Servant Leadership at TLU.

Thank you, TLU Center for Servant Leadership for choosing us to volunteer at during your bi-annual service day. It's the little things that mean so much 💜🫶

We were honored to be invited to present at TLU's "Feminist First Fridays" event.

This program allows students to talk about issues on campus and in the community.

We collaborated about how TLU students can get involved in the community and serve places such as Thriving Hearts Crisis Center.

Today, on the first Monday of October, we observe the Day of Unity, which kicks off National Domestic Violence Awareness month. 🫶🏼💜

Let us come together in unity to:
🫶🏼Mourn those who lost their lives as a result of domestic violence
💜 Celebrate the strength, courage and survival of those who have lived through abuse
🗣️And let us always remember to connect advocates and allies that are committed to ending domestic violence and creating safer and stronger communities.
