Thriving Hearts Crisis Center was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with the City of Karnes City Police Department to discuss the free and confidential services THCC provides locally to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking.

🫶🏼 It takes a village and together we can help create a safer Karnes County community.

🚨Law enforcement is a critical piece in domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking incidents.

❓Did you know that peace officers are obligated to use all means within reason to prevent further abuse of domestic violence victims. By law, they must give the victim immediate and written notice of the rights, remedies, and services available to victims of domestic violence.

💥In more than 80% of high-risk domestic violence cases, law enforcement will be the first point of contact with a victim. The initial response can change the trajectory of a victim’s life. Trauma informed response is crucial and life changing.

💥Evidence suggests that domestic violence victims may have better outcomes if they interact with first responders who are trained with a trauma-informed approach. First responders can be valuable partners in connecting victims to community resources with appropriate training.

💙 Thank you KCPD for having us. And thank you for your support and partnership.

We are safer and better together!

We enjoyed participating at our local DSHS’s Breastfeeding Awareness Mingle event in Karnes County.

💡Education, outreach and awareness are key so the communities we serve know the resources and services readily available to them.

💜Thriving Hearts Crisis Center serves Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes and Wilson counties and provides free and confidential services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. Services include an emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, safety planning, crisis intervention, case management and information and referrals to name a few.

Thank you, DSHS South Central TX partners, for inviting us to have a resource table.

This is what community collaboration and partnership at its finest looks like! 🫶🏼💜

🚨Did you know that each year, hundreds of thousands of adults over the age of 60 are abused, neglected, or financially exploited. This mistreatment is called elder abuse.

Abuse can happen anywhere, including in the older person’s home, a family member’s home, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. The mistreatment of older adults can be by family members, strangers, health care providers, caregivers, or friends.

We enjoyed having the opportunity to present to staff at John Paul II Nursing Home in Kenedy about who Thriving Hearts Crisis Center is, what we do and how we can work together to prevent elder abuse - abuse, in general. Starting the important conversation about abuse and all the misconceptions that surround it is critical. Education is our best line of defense for prevention.

Thank you John Paul II Nursing Home for having us.

We enjoyed collaborating with our community partner, Celeste from INK HOPES, regarding the opportunity to present to their staff and the families they serve in Karnes and Wilson counties.

The Innovative Network of Knowledge (INK) is an educational nonprofit organization that partners with Texas programs like HOPES (Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support) to provide free family guidance, parent education, and child development resources in Texas counties. HOPES is a flexible community grant that funds a variety of innovative initiatives and supports for families with children from birth to 5 years old. Support typically includes home visiting services and other resources that build protective factors.
