What a wonderful day at the Guadalupe County Fair Parade! 🐴👑

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse (GCSMP) was proud to participate in this year’s parade alongside our beautiful Royalty Court, Queen Bella Jo and Princess Savara Lerma, and Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray!

We love celebrating our community, honoring our traditions, and sharing our love of horses with the wonderful people of Guadalupe County.

After serving the community more than half a century, former Guadalupe County Constable Eugene “Gene” Mayes hung up his badge for the final time.

Mayes died of cancer Wednesday morning, leaving behind a proud legacy of helping others, his widow Mona Mayes said. She spent the past three weeks by his side each day and learned that her husband left no regrets in life, Mona said.

“Gene told us last week, he said he wouldn’t change a thing in his whole life. Everything was the way he wanted it to be,” she said. “He said there’s nothing he would change about his life.”
