The cemetery officers are aware of the large tree limb that has fallen near the West Gate and making arrangements to have it removed. No graves or fencing were damaged. It will be cleaned up as soon as possible.

Thanks for reporting your concerns about things that need attention. We want to make sure that Post Oak Cemetery is a safe place and reflects the respect we have for our loved ones there.

Please plan on attending the Post Oak Cemetery annual meeting on Sunday July 24, 2022 at 3:00PM The meeting will be at the GVEC Community Meeting Room at 13849 US Hwy 87 W in La Vernia. Everyone who has a connection to the cemetery is encouraged to attend.
The updated newsletter with financial report was sent out this past week.
If you haven't been to visit the cemetery lately, stop by and check it out. It is looking good. The new fence has been completed. Visit your family's graves to make sure everything is on order. If you have any concerns, please bring them to the meeting on Sunday the 24th.

It is a beautiful time of the year to visit and honor your loved ones resting on Post Oak Cemetery. The bluebonnets were beautiful but they are now gone. The cemetery is all mowed and looking good. Thanks Loretta for taking care of it all. We've had a few new burials. Grab some spring flowers to add to your loved one's graves and don't forget the older generations too. They need some love and attention too. Bring an extra flower or two to put on a grave that might not have any remaining relatives. Together we can continue making this a special place.

Greetings! If you are in the area, I hope you take some time to visit the graves of your family and friends this Holiday Season. A new fence has been installed around 3 sides of the cemetery (with a wire that will keep flowers from blowing into the neighboring pastures) and the main gates have been replaced with new ones. This gives a fresh new look.

Reminder that if you are putting Christmas/Fall flowers on the graves, please be sure to take the old ones home with you to discard.

Just a reminder of the upcoming Post Oak Cemetery meeting on July 22nd at 3pm at the GVEC office (air conditioned and comfortable) in La Vernia!

Please plan to be there to share the latest info about the cemetery and plans for the future. If you know of someone who has loved ones resting in the cemetery, please encourage them to attend.

If you go to the cemetery and see something unusual or something that needs to be taken care of, post it here. If you take a picture, share it with us here.

If any of you were at the last Post Oak Cemetery annual meeting, please post any news items that were discussed at the meeting for all of us to read. From what I gather, the following was discussed:
1) The secretary resigned and we are looking for someone to accept that position.
2) The new cost for a single plot is $500.
3) The Deicke Cemetery (just down the road) has a new sign (after the hail storm completely destroyed the old one) thanks to Ruby Kolenda and the Clarence and Rosie Deicke Schievelbein children.
4) The date for next year's meeting is: ????

Floyd Poenitz suggested that in order to reach more folks, the annual newsletter should be sent out via email, in addition to the paper copy. Of if any of those receiving the newsletter via postal mail want to switch to email to save the cemetery association the postage money, please let Floyd ( floyd @ poenitz. org ) know your email address and he is happy to create an email mailing for those individuals who want to receive the newsletter and other announcements electronically.
