Stacey loves to be scratched in her favorite itchy spot.
She has come so far.

She was 3 year old OTTB (JC Stacey the miracle) back in 2024 - who went from a race training track straight to a well known auction in Louisiana where the kill buyer takes all.

Crazy story but her dam (Sara’s Flash) was saved from the same pipeline a couple of years prior. And arrived here in horrid shape underweight a huge right knee - and with her lady parts ripped open a lone suture hanging from a piece of skin we knew the birth had gone terribly wrong. She is the very sweetest mare, and beautiful too.

Well turns out Stacey was that foal. So we had to help her.

She arrived an emotional wreck. She would pin her ears and try hard to lunge and bite anyone who dared to clean out her stall or gesture to touch her. Whatever had happened to her was not pleasant. Horses aren’t born this way. Humans are always to blame.

Those days are behind her now…. And with time and patience, freedom and friends….. she is finally learning to trust. She has made horsey (and donkey) friends, and now enjoys life out in a small herd 24/7.

She still has a long way to go but it’s so nice to see her enjoying her scratches 🩷❤️🩷🐴

In March of 2022 we helped a small herd of senior Arabians. Their owner was elderly and they had been peacefully grazing on some land a few hours from us. That land was suddenly sold and the horses had to leave. Their owner was incredibly worried. She had very few options. She did not want to euthanize - and also wanted them to stay together. They were all pushing 30 years old and she had known all of them since birth.

The move was stressful for all. But they finally settled in here - all together.

We recently learned that their owner Bonnie has gained her angel wings. She was an incredible horse woman who deeply loved her horses.

We know she’s up there watching over us.

We recently welcomed a very sweet old guy who was dumped at an auction. And he sat at the broker lot. And sat longer. And just about gave up.

No one was coming for him.

He’s 24 years old. Skinny. Tired. Full of ticks. Neglected in many ways. Unwanted.

Thanks to RACE Fund and their supporters, he is here now - to get the care he needs and deserves.

Also thanks to Brandon for hauling him safely and swiftly. (They share the same name 😂)

We hope we can get him feeling better soon. Such a good boy. He loved his bath. So far eating and drinking well. He has gone on a walk to graze. He’s still taking it all in. He is exhausted.

One day at a time sweet man!

Welcome Brandon B ! ❤️🐴❤️🐴
