Back at work. So happy to be back at work taking care of mama. ❤️

Our hearts are completely shattered.

We lost our sweet Poppy after a sudden and devastating emergency that no one could have anticipated. Despite doing everything we could to save her, we had to say goodbye.
Everything happened so quickly, and we are still trying to process the shock of losing her. The house already feels different without her silly, sweet, larger-than-life personality in it.
Poppy was deeply loved and an important part of our family. We were nowhere near ready to say goodbye, and we are simply devastated.

Run free, Poppy Louise. You were loved every single day you were ours. 💔🐾

Simon was cleared for one more outting with mama to our annual conference.
Unfortunately we are sitting at the AirBnB while our friends take notes for us at the business sessions because again, for the 3rd year in a row, there's a fake service dog there that's dangerous. This dog has been again, observed whining barking and lunging and dragging. The owners husband is ON FILM hitting the dog with his cane and 4 people mentioned to me JUST TODAY that the owner hit the dog with her cane and told him to shut up his whining.
Again, NO ONE is 'taking the risk' to throw them out. Not the org, not the building owners, not security. They are allowing animal abuse and in my mind they are all just as guilty of abuse as she is for seeing it and allowing it to continue year after year.
Again, my dog is in danger and the conference is NOT safe for us to participate in.
This 'handler' claims that the dog is whining and barking because everyone around them has blood sugar issues and he's confused. THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS. THIS IS NOT HOW TASKING WORKS.
WHY this bad behavior is continually tolerated and continually excused is baffling to me, especially for an organization that supports and funds a Service Dog org.
I'm assuming it's because they don't want to be sued. Sued by WHO? Sued by a woman who claims her pet is a service dog? She has no leg to stand on - it's an empty threat.
So instead they continue risk the real dogs in attendance with this repeat offender.
There are ZERO protections in place for Simon and I and any other real Service Dogs in attendance.
This communicates to me (and other handlers) that an organization DOES NOT actually care about the safety of it's members.
LEAVE YOUR DAMN PETS AT HOME. That goes for the vendors poodle, the lady carrying her poodle, the fluffy thing in the stroller, the tiny dog in a tutu - STOP THE MADNESS and stop using your dog as a disability accessory. It's insulting to the disabled and to Veterans. It's gross.
I said what I said.

This is NOT a service dog.
Don't be this person.
And businesses and organizations.....STOP allowing this.
