Across Montana, public lands are where we connect—to clean water, to wildlife, and to each other. Whether we’re hunting, fishing, hiking, or simply seeking quiet, many of these moments happen on State Trust Lands.

The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) is asking for input on how these lands are used—and how they should be managed moving forward.

This is an important opportunity to speak up for the values we share: protecting clean water, preserving wildlife habitat, and ensuring that Montanans have a voice in decisions that affect our communities and public lands.

State Trust Lands include critical riparian areas, grasslands, forests, and wetlands—ecosystems that sustain both people and wildlife. How these lands are managed today will shape Montana’s future.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the DNRC’s public survey and help affirm that responsible recreation and conservation go hand in hand.

Click on the link below to take action today and help protect what makes Montana home—for this generation and the next.

The survey closes March 31, 2026.

Please add your support and use your voices to tell the Park County Commissioners that this location in Paradise Valley near Emigrant is not the right place for an industrial gravel mining operation.

A win for the community shared by Blackfoot River Community

Community Win - Permit Paused! Now It’s Time to Protect the Blackfoot River Corridor
Following strong community engagement, Missoula County requested more information from the developer. When that information was not provided, the County voided the zoning compliance application — pausing the project and requiring any future proposal to be resubmitted with additional details before county review can continue.
This is an important moment — but it also highlights a bigger issue.

The Blackfoot River corridor is currently unzoned and vulnerable. Without clear protections in place, this area remains exposed to future industrial proposals.

That’s why we are calling on Missoula County to:
✅ Initiate a protective land-use planning review to
✅ Establish corridor zoning or overlay safeguards
✅ Hold a public community meeting
✅ Require clear public notice for future gravel, asphalt, or industrial permit applications

Our voices are making a difference. The pause proves that community engagement works... but this is not the finish line.
It’s the moment to move from pause to permanent protection for the Blackfoot River.

📣 Take Action:
Call the Missoula County Commissioners: (406) 258-4877
Email: [email protected]
Ask for corridor protections, a public meeting, and early public notification.

We are not giving up. We are growing.
And we are not going anywhere.
