The Blazeman Foundation for ALS was founded in 2007 by Jon before he passed away...calling the multisport community to band together in creating ALS awareness and raising funds for cutting edge research..."so others may live" Members of Team Blazeman, known as Blazeman Warriors, help carry out the mission of The Blazeman Foundation for ALS by raising awareness about ALS. As they train and race, Bl

azeman Warriors raise awareness and commit to attainable fundraising objectives to support cutting-edge scientific research to find the causes and a cure for ALS. Blazeman Warriors keep the spirit of Jon Blais alive. They show others, and discover themselves, that failure is not an option and to never give up. For that reason, Blazeman Warriors achieve success and fulfillment in their multi-sport endeavors that they never dreamed possible. Blazeman Warriors commemorate Jon’s 2005 Ironman finish by rolling across the finish line to the cheers of spectators, a gesture that has come to symbolize the War on ALS.

"I first saw your incredible story while watching the 2005 Ironman. As an avid baseball history fan I consider Lou Gehrig one of the greatest because he was likely the first to give ALS a voice. Your voice has been much louder and stronger thank goodness. The words THANK YOU are not enough to express how you have opened eyes and minds about ALS and hopefully soon there will be a cure."

The IMWC-2006 Kona HI (Sports Medical Conference), Jon was a "guess and presenter"...the words best remembered...He had come back to the Big Island to give a face to ALS. At that time he was in a wheelchair and his speech was difficult to understand, but his message was not.

“Last year I did this race but people only saw that I stumbled a little and wore wrist braces. This year I have lost my ability to walk and communication is difficult, and next year I will be gone. I implore you to research and fight this horrible disease. Since the time of Lou Gehrig there have been no new effective treatments. I believe I was put on this earth to raise awareness and money to fight this frightening illness.” Jon, (the-blazeman)..."alswarriorpoet-spirit", FREEDOM!!!!
