🌧️ Summer storms can take a toll on Sedona’s trails.

If you encounter significant trail damage this summer, please let us know. A small group of VVCC volunteers is working with Sam from the Red Rock Trail Crew to help address major trail damage as it arises.

Recent reports and repairs include:
🌲 Trees down on AZ Cypress
🪨 A rock slide cleared on Rodeo
đź’§ Bandit Wash repairs

If you spot fallen trees, significant washouts, rockslides, or other trail damage that is making it not passable, DM or tag and we’ll pass the information along to . Photos and the location is a must - pull the GPS coordinates from your photos.

A huge thank you to Sam & the volunteers helping keep Sedona’s trails open, safe, and sustainable through the summer months. 🙌

Trails. Recreation. Stewardship. Sedona’s Future. 🚲🥾

Join the Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition (VVCC) for a community forum focused on trails, outdoor recreation, multi-modal transportation, and issues impacting the future of Sedona’s outdoor recreation and public lands.

Come learn, ask questions, and participate in a thoughtful community discussion with Sedona’s mayoral and council candidates.

Featured Candidates:
• Brian Fultz
• Melissa Dunn
• Tony Hauserman

📍 Basecamp: 70 Dry Creek Rd, Sedona, AZ
đź“… Wednesday, May 20
⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The event is open to VVCC members, supporters, and others connected to Sedona’s trail and outdoor recreation community.

VVCC is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse political candidates. Our goal is education, community discussion, and helping ensure trails, outdoor recreation, stewardship, active transportation, and public lands remain part of the conversation as Sedona continues to evolve.

VVCC will also be hosting another community forum in June for the remaining slate of Sedona mayoral and council candidates.

Final Event of the Season - Let’s Go to Flagstaff

When: Saturday, May 30th | 10:00 AM
Where: Schultz Creek Trailhead (Schultz–Elden Y)

What:
We’re wrapping up the 2025–2026 riding season the best way we know how - on bikes, in the pines, with good people.

Join VVCC for a 2–3 hour ride in the Mt. Elden trail system. Routes will be TBD based on who shows up.

After the ride, we’ll regroup at the trailhead, then caravan into town to celebrate the end of the season at:

Pizzicletta & Dark Sky Brewing Co.
117 North Beaver St. Flagstaff

Huge thanks to Dark Sky for being such a strong supporter of VVCC - let’s show them some love with a big turnout.

VVCC is NOT providing any food or drinks at this Event.

Hope to see you in Flagstaff. Everyone is welcome! Please register to avoid wavers in the parking lot.

The landscape is telling us something. It’s time we listen.

Starting this week (April 22) and continuing through the summer, many social trails throughout the Turkey Creek area will be closed and restored.

These aren’t random closures. They’re necessary and planned as part of the significant trail expansion at Turkey Creek - as outlined in the Red Rock Trails Access Plan - Phase 2.

Unmanaged social trails are:
• Damaging fragile meadow ecosystems (some of the rarest in Sedona)
• Contributing to sediment runoff into the Oak Creek watershed
• Accelerating erosion across the landscape

Over time, these impacts add up, and they’re not sustainable.

In the coming weeks, you’ll hear directly from partners across the Red Rock Ranger District about the why behind this work - what’s at stake, and what we’re working to protect.

But here’s the part that matters most right now:

Closures only work if we respect them.

When barriers are moved or trails are re-opened, it undoes the restoration work and prolongs the damage.

We’re asking the community - hikers, MTB riders, equestrian, runners, all of us who love this place - to help protect it.

👉 Respect the closures
👉 Help spread the word

This is how we take care of the places we love together.
