Earth Citizens Organization

Earth Citizens Organization Earth Citizens Organization (ECO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to create leaders who make a difference in their communities.

The Earth Citizens Organization create leaders who make a difference in their communities through their services and mindful living practices. ECO leaders teach outreach classes, create community initiatives and help other charitable causes and organizations. Through their services, they lead changes of great impact, locally and globally, to move forward to a more mindful, humane and sustainable w

orld. The name of the organization represents the understanding that we all are citizens of the Earth and share the responsibility as its stewards for the well-being and continuity of the community of life on the planet. Earth Citizen is the shared identity for all people who take this responsibility. ECO will be the leading organization to organize and lead Earth Citizens’ activities to promote the spirit of Earth Citizenship. We all know that we need to change to make our lives on this planet sustainable. However, if we were to attempt to make a large-scale change in a short period of time, the stress and strain of such an effort would probably frustrate the effort itself. To facilitate change, we should learn to think ‘soft.’ Even with people, we can start the change from softer things such as the way we breathe, the way we eat, the way we manage our stress, and the way we feel toward other people and other living beings. These soft parts shape our behaviors and our choices, both on a personal and a global scale. In this respect, they are fundamental, more so than any material change. These elements, together with training and practices for mindfulness and leadership, are the foundation of the training and education that ECO provides for the people who desire to initiate the change in their lives and their community. ECO has been running its leadership program under the name “Heroes”. The purpose of the program is to cultivate Hero-ship, the greatest qualities of human nature such as integrity, kindness, conscience and willingness to serve all, because we believe these are the most powerful means to change our lives. Graduates of our programs return to their communities ready to share what they have learned and experienced through outreach classes and community services. The generous donations of individuals and supporting institutions make it possible for ECO to provide this invaluable education below cost. For a $10 minimum donation, you can become a part of the community of Earth Citizens. You can also help Earth Citizenship expand by helping ECO invite your friend to become an Earth Citizen as well. It was a perfect community day on the Farm during last Saturday's Earth Day Celebration. It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet new neighbors, and folks traveling through the region. The farm tours of our animals, gardens, and new irrigation (thanks to a Friends of the Verde River grant) were popular, and we raised funds for our farm animals, equipment, and other monthly expenses by selling flowers and vegetable starters. Andy enjoyed giving a short demo of Tai Chi and Qigong under our pecan tree, generating interest for our weekly ECO Center classes. Kelsea sold compost, representing her company, Verde Valley Compost, also located on the farm. Thanks to those of you who helped, and came by for the celebration!

Connect with nature this Saturday at the ECO Farm Earth Day Celebration in Cottonwood from 8:30 to 12:30.

Tour the farm, meet the animals, plant a tree, and learn about sustainable farming.

We can help you start your summer garden, too. We’ll have seeds and spring potted vegetables, herbs, and trees for sale, along with compost from Verde Valley Compost.

And for your health…we’ll be selling fresh leafy greens, herbs, microgreens, and eggs from our own flock of chickens.

Plus, if you’re interested, we want to show off our new irrigation system, made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Verde River. We are proud that the new system will result in huge water savings to help preserve the Verde River.

Grow with us this Saturday at our Earth Day celebration- at 3080 E. Hwy 89A in Cottonwood.
