Sedona Recycles is a grassroots organization defined by the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and the community to support recycling efforts and provide innovative solutions to reduce waste. By providing free recycling services and public education, we reduce the volume

of post-consumer waste buried in the local landfill and serve as the Verde Valley's authoritative resource on solid waste reduction.

⚠️We are no longer accepting number 5 plastics or large mixed rigid items.

To maintain our standards of transparency and environmental accountability, we have stopped accepting Polypropylene PP ( #5) plastics on June 1st, 2026. At this time, we cannot in good conscience continue participating in a system that conflicts with
We will no longer accept large mixed rigid items.

Polypropylene PP ( #5) includes:
✖️Take out food containers
✖️Black plastic clamshells
✖️Frozen food trays
✖️Yogurt, hummus, cottage cheese, cream cheese tubs
✖️Bulky plastics: Lawn chairs, laundry baskets, five gallon buckets, and plant pots

Putting non-accepted items in our bins increases our operating costs and disposal fees. Please do not put Polypropylene PP (5) in the bins anymore.

This will just equate to
✔️more labor
✔️more energy
✔️increased trash bills

Any material we receive that is not recyclable, we have to pay to dispose of.

We ask our patrons to help us stay viable by keeping these materials out of our bins. By refusing single-use plastics, we act locally to solve a global problem.

Just a quick tip next time you visit us at Sedona Recycling. If you could remove packaging from your cardboard that would be AMAZING! If you are able we would love if you could flatten your boxes as well. This helps us bail more material together.

Quick tip Monday: Please remove and throw away all plastic lids! This helps us bail more material and helps preserve our machinery.

"Should I take the lid off?” is one of our top questions asked at the point of recycling.

Spoiler alert: The answer is “yes”, please remove the lids and put them in your trash at home.

Keeping the lids off of your plastic bottles facilitates the best case scenario for our baler compressing the materials into the tightest bale possible because there isn’t a lid trapping air inside of the bottle.

EFFECTIVE NOW🚨: Sedona Recycles will no longer accept Polypropylene PP ( #5) plastics or large mixed rigid items at our Shelby Drive drop-off location. Plastic recycling is now strictly limited to bottles and jugs.

🛑 What Will No Longer Be Accepted PP ( #5) Plastics: Yogurt/cottage cheese tubs,
Take-out containers,,
Black plastic clamshells.
Bulky Items (Large Mixed Rigid Items): Lawn chairs, laundry baskets, plant pots, and 5-gallon buckets.

💡 What You Can Do
Check Your Bins: Double-check your items before tossing them into collection bins to prevent contamination.
Reduce & Reuse: In a system dominated by single-use plastics, refusing or reusing items has the greatest environmental impact.
Spread the Word: Share this update with your neighbors, friends, and the local community.

Wonder what materials are accepted at Sedona Recycles? Here is a breakdown of what COLOR glass we accept.

When bringing your materials to the parking lot you will see our collection bins for glass. We ask that BROWN 🤎and GREEN 💚are combined while clear glass is separated in its own bin.

We DO NOT accept BLUE glass. ❌💙❌

Help us clean our glass clean by taking off the lids and throwing away the corks. Every bit helps!

If you have any questions we are always happy to answer them in the lobby from 7am-3pm Monday-Friday.

Wonder what materials are accepted at Sedona Recycles? Here is a breakdown of the plastic materials we take.

#1 & #2 in the shape of bottles, jugs, and jars. This you can think about as any plastic container that has a bottle neck.

We CANNOT accept berry or salad containers. Or any other shape of plastic that doesn't have a bottle neck.

If you're ever unsure about a material best practice is when in doubt throw it out! 🗑️

Happy Friday, Recyclers! We have an important announcement regarding our summer hours! Our lobby will be open from 7am-3pm Monday through Friday starting May 1st.

As always, you can bring your recyable materials 24/7 in our parking lot.

Hi Village of Oak Creek Recyclers!

Many of you have brought to our attention that the drop off sites the County had for you in the Village have closed.

There’s been some confusion that residents believed that we had been doing the collections from those sites. Sedona Recycles has not been involved with Yavapai County’s Village recycling sites for several years and we do not have information about the contractor or service changes related to those locations.

For questions, updates, or concerns, we recommend reaching out directly to Yavapai County at this time.

We would like to thank everyone who helped make yesterday‘s Earth Day Celebration Ribbon Cutting Baler Reveal + Fundraiser wonderful! 🌎♻️✂️🎀

It was a true team effort—from our outstanding staff to our local sustainability vendors to the generosity of the of Commerce to our legendary founders — to make it a memorable Earth Day!

Thank you to every recycler in the community who came out to celebrate Earth Day with us by participating in our ribbon-cutting ceremony, taking a tour, and generously donating to our fundraising campaign.

Thank can you to , the Sustainability team, , and who came and tabled to teach residents about sustainability initiatives in Sedona and serve zero-waste refreshments 🍋

It was truly special to have all three of our founders — Sandy Moriarty, Rayna Griffin, and Kate Blevins — together to cut the ribbon on this milestone moment. Their vision made this possible, and we’re proud to carry it forward.

We still have a very long way to go with fundraising to replenish the remaining $160,000 for our baler. So, if you donate $200+ before May 31, please come in and get one of our beautiful Sedona Recycles-branded reusable gifts as a token of our gratitude!

Did you know: musical greeting cards are not recyclable 🎵⚠️

It’s the thought that counts, but if that thought comes with a catchy tune it can't doesn't belong in the bins at Sedona Recycles.

Musical greeting cards have "hidden" electronics. Inside the cards are smalls electronic chips and a tiny lithium button batteries. When these cards are crushed in our recycling trucks or sorting machinery, those batteries can spark and start dangerous fires. 🚛🔥

Because they are a mix of paper and electronics, they cannot be processed with regular cardboard and mail.

Consider a beautiful handwritten note on recycled paper or a digital "e-card" instead next time you want to get a musical card! 💌✨

Help us keep our facility and workers safe by keeping the musical cards out of the recycling bin!
