Maybe tomorrow, Samantha 🙏

Every night we tell her - maybe tomorrow, girl. But days go by, and no one comes for her. Samantha has been here seven long months. She lives in a small room with a sheet over the door to keep her stress level down. She lays on the floor - sometimes snuggles in blankets, and she waits. She waits for her three walks a day. She waits for her meals. She waits for her playtime in the park. But most of all, she waits for a family.

Can you imagine living your life this way? Wishing and waiting to just live your life outside of a room? The longer animals spend in shelters, the more they break down, and the harder they become to adopt. We're so lucky we have the staff and volunteers we do who help Samantha get as much time as possible outside - but with the hot weather, having so many animals in our care right now, and many of our volunteers being away for the summer, only so much is possible. 😔

WE NEED YOUR HELP.

We know Samantha has her quirks and hang ups, but so many animals do and get adopted anyway. We refuse to believe there's no one out there for Samantha. We just need to find them. We need people to take a chance on her. To share her photo. To tell her story. To just come and MEET her. We need people to know she is here and she is struggling.

So please - help us do that. Tell a family member. Share her photo with a friend. Share this post wherever you can, because she needs more people in her corner for her dreams of a family to ever come true 🙏

Samantha needs to be an only pet. She loves to play ball and with toys. She's very affectionate with those she loves and does well in a home environment. She is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. Her adoption fee has been generously sponsored. Please call us to set up an appointment to meet her 928-282-4679

What better way to celebrate National Kitten Day than to donate much needed kitten food to our shelter?

Kitten season is in full swing, and we are always in need of wet and dry kitten food. We have some options listed on our Amazon wish list - but we're really not picky here. You can shop the link below and send items directly to our door, or shop local and stop in to say hello! Either way, babies like Moe with thank you!!

The Humane Society of Sedona is thrilled to announce that they have maintained a “No-Kill” Shelter Status with Best Friends Animal Society by achieving a 90% or higher save rate.

In 2023 they significantly surpassed this milestone with a 98.68% ‘animals saved’ quota and they are at a 99.26% no-kill ranking for the first half of 2024.

They could not achieve this milestone without the help of the community!
Every time you donate, volunteer, adopt, foster, share a post or a photo, or attend an event, you are supporting their mission and helping homeless animals be seen and saved.

The Humane Society of Sedona is proud of this recognition and they are honored to serve such a gracious community. They look forward to continuing their lifesaving work with you! THANK YOU! 🙏

Verde Valley Sanctuary has the unfortunate news to announce that their Cottonwood Twice Nice Thriftique has not been profitable for the past two years, despite the hard work of their amazing team. The competitive market in Cottonwood has made it challenging to generate sufficient revenue at the Cottonwood store to support their mission of helping domestic violence survivors.

With the property's value estimated at over $1 million, the Board of Directors has decided to liquidate, close, and sell the Cottonwood Twice Nice Thriftique store and property. This difficult decision allows them to better focus on their core mission and invest in their 221 S. Main St. Campus.

Verde Valley Sanctuary deeply appreciates the dedication of Cottonwood staff and volunteers and will ensure a smooth transition. This transition will not happen over night. Survivor needs will continue to be met during and after the closure of the store.

However, the last day of accepting donations at the Cottonwood store will be this Saturday 6/29.

There was an auto accident into a home in the Jasper subdivision this evening. The driver was transported by Priority Ambulance of Arizona to YRMC.

The accident damaged water pipes, causing water to enter the home, but crews quickly shut off the water to prevent further damage; all utilities to the home were secured. Sadly, the residents will be displaced, and the Arizona Crisis Team, Inc. is on scene to assist them. Our thanks to Prescott Valley Police Department for their assistance.

EDITORIAL: The first big wildfire of the 2024 season to affect Sedona and the Verde Valley is the 960-acre Bravo Fire. For those new to the Sedona area or the West in general experiencing their first wildfire season, or fire season with wildfires in our area, wildfire management can seem counterintuitive.

Wildland firefighters construct a fire line, which is a break in vegetation and potential fire fuels like dead or downed trees, to bare soil or rock by using digging tools or conducting small controlled fires, burning the area before the big wildfire can reach it.

Many wildfires burn for weeks until containment, which is the goal: Letting fires burn in a contained area until they starve or are extinguished by rain.

The first big wildfire of the 2024 season to affect Sedona and the Verde Valley is the 960-acre Bravo Fire. Burning on the heavily-wooded Camp Navajo, an Arizona National Guard facility south of Bellemont, an unincorporated community 22 miles north of Sedona and nine miles west of Flagstaff, the wil...
