It is with sadness that VFW Post 2591 announces the passing of our comrade, Amanda Sue Todd. Though she had only recently transferred to our post, we are honored to have called her one of our own. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and fellow veterans. Fair winds and following seas, Amanda.

📣 Official Announcement – VFW Post 2591 Leadership Transition

On September 11, 2025, Commander Lee Whited stepped down as Commander of VFW Post 2591 due to a change in personal circumstances prompting the relocation of his family to another area of Missouri.

Comrade Whited faithfully served Post 2591 as Jr. Vice Commander from 2021–2022 and as Commander from 2022–2025. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on our Post, our veterans, and the community we serve. We extend our sincere gratitude to Lee and his family for their unwavering commitment, time, and support.

We are proud to announce that Brett Sorrell has been nominated and unanimously voted in as the new Commander of VFW Post 2591. Commander Sorrell is a long-standing member of our Post, having previously served in multiple roles including Post Quartermaster, Post Adjutant and Post Trustee. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the history of Post 2591 and a strong understanding of day-to-day operations.

Please join us in bidding a heartfelt farewell to Lee and his family, thanking them for their service to our Post and our community. At the same time, let us welcome Commander Sorrell into his new role, and wish him wisdom and success as he leads Post 2591 forward in our continued mission of supporting local veterans, fostering comradeship, and strengthening our community.
