Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not simply a milestone of the past, but a promise we must continue to uphold. It marks the end of slavery in the United States and honors the generations of Black Americans who have championed liberty, justice, and civil rights in the face of systemic oppression.

In New Jersey, communities come together in parades, ceremonies, and gatherings to celebrate, share stories, and honor. As we celebrate, it also calls us to action. Racism and inequity remain profoundly embedded, and true freedom requires more than emancipation. It means equity, dignity, and access.

It means guaranteeing every person has the right to a safe birth and a healthy future. That is the mission we continue to work toward every day.

Today, we welcomed board members, dedicated supporters, and new friends to our Annual Meeting. A day of celebration, inspiration, and renewed commitment to transforming maternal and child health. Physician and novelist Radha Lin Chaddah delivered a powerful talk on health care, equity, and culture, followed by a signing of her book And the Ancestors Sing. Our 2026 CEE Fellow, Joan Kabahumuza, shared an insightful presentation that sparked meaningful dialogue.

We were proud to welcome five new board members—Maya Harlow, Dr. Todd Rosen, Chanta Blue, MSW, MEd., LCSW, Charlene Gungil, DHSc, CPM, MPH, and Charles R. Casser—and to celebrate Charlene and Charles’s return as trustees. The day also honored longtime Partnership employee Marie Kinsella as she embarks on her retirement.

WOW! We were thrilled to welcome more than 75 families and expectant mothers for a day filled with meaningful connections, educational sessions with medical providers, mommy-and-baby yoga, valuable community resources, and more!

We are truly grateful to our partners at Englewood Health and Shirvan Family Live Well Center. Thank you to all our community partners, dedicated volunteers, and everyone who supported this wonderful event.

Our Nurse-Family Partnership team welcomed summer with a scrapbooking day at the Paterson Public Library! Families created keepsakes with printed photos, kids enjoyed a play space, and everyone shared lunch together. It was a joyful afternoon of art, laughter, and connection. 💙 Big thanks to the Paterson Free Public Library for hosting us!

Healthy Families Morris celebrated an amazing day at Iglesia Alianza with over 20 moms. From the moment they arrived, each mother was welcomed with a special gift and enjoyed poetry, music, delicious food, and fun family games. The day continued with raffles, clothing donations for the kids, and ended with a flower gift to honor every mom.❤🥰

WOW! The Prematurity Prevention Initiative hosted its 3rd Annual Centering Health for Mothers & Babies: Preeclampsia Awareness Day. This inspiring gathering brought together families, birthing individuals, healthcare providers, and perinatal professionals to deepen understanding of preeclampsia, confront the impact of health disparities on maternal outcomes, and explore intentional strategies that nurture healing, resilience, and joy in maternal care.
