The Mission Continues.
Many in our community have now seen news reports regarding the criminal investigation involving financial activity associated with Heartland EAA Chapter 1240's previous treasurer.
Because this remains an active criminal matter, we will not comment on the identity of the individual involved, the allegations under investigation, or the potential outcome. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and the State Attorney's Office.
What we will talk about is Heartland EAA Chapter 1240.
This Chapter has flown well over 1,000 Young Eagles, supported hundreds of Highlands County students through aviation, engineering and technical education, helped students pursue industry certifications, and provided pathways to flight training and pilot certificates through extraordinary educational and aviation partnerships.
The approximately $65,000 loss associated with the matter has left us rebuilding financially from essentially zero. But zero dollars does not mean zero assets.
Our greatest assets have always been our students, volunteers, pilots, educators, donors, businesses, and community partners. We are incredibly grateful to the people and organizations who have already stepped forward to help us protect these programs and honor our commitments to our students.
We aren't going anywhere.
The challenges we face today will not define Heartland EAA Chapter 1240. The students whose lives are changed by these programs will.
