Our students had an absolute blast at the Motosurf event. From getting geared up with the athletes to actually riding the motorized surfboards, it was an unforgettable experience. Huge shoutout to the pros for being so patient and showing our kids the ropes, and so proud of our students for jumping in and trying something completely new! 🙌✨ We even had a few kids already practicing makeup for our spooky events coming up!! (More on that soon 😊)
We enjoyed it all! Thank you to our volunteers Ms.Lolli and Ms.Carla for showing up with snacks, popsicles and drinks. We can’t forget to thank Visit Sebring and City of Sebring, Florida- Government for bringing great events and fun for all ages!!

This Thursday, the afterschool spot will NOT be at the center because we are encouraging all our students to meet us down at the PIER BEACH ON LAKE JACKSON (355 W Center Ave, Sebring, FL 33870) from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM!

The Motosurf Games athletes will be having a FREE community event where you will have the opportunity to TEST DRIVE THE MOTORIZED SURF BOARDS with tutorials from the athletes themselves. It's free to the public and all ages are welcome!

We will be there waiting with plenty of waters and snacks for our teens!

Before sending your child, please read these two very important details:

📝 WAIVERS ARE MANDATORY: If your child wants to try the motosurf out on the water, their waiver must be filled out. The good news is that you can complete the waiver onsite before they ride! We want everyone to have a blast, but for safety and liability, no waiver means they cannot get on the water!

🚶 TRANSPORTATION: As many of you know, we are still without a van. This is the main reason we’ve had to pause most of our community trips and outings lately. Because of this, we cannot provide transportation to the event. However, Pier Beach is incredibly close, and most kids should be able to safely walk there straight from school! Please have them meet us down there.

We are so excited for this awesome event. Let’s make it a great Thursday and in the words of the teens, tomorrow “we outside”!! 💗

Tabby’s generously donated a gift card for the graduation basket and yall know how grateful we are for local businesses that consistently invest in our teens. So we want our village to support them right back!

Can we give a shoutout to BC Billiards for supporting our Class of 2026! We reached out about our graduate baskets and BC Billiards generously donated one hour of pool for two!

But their generosity doesn't stop with our youth! BC Billiards is currently stepping up to host a charity tournament for a local individual battling cancer, and we want to encourage our entire TASS village to go support them! 🎗️

🎱 Texas Express Wild West 9 Ball Shoot Out
⏰ Doors open at 10:00 AM Tournament starts at 12:00 PM (High Noon)

All proceeds go to charity. Whether you want to compete in the double-elimination tournament or just want to show up to support a great cause in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place to be. Located right here in downtown Sebring at 248 Pomegranate Ave, they are our premier pool hall in Highlands County.

From Strawberry Shortcake to Baja Blast to repping their own names, we love seeing our teens express their unique personalities. My 8 yr old even made one for his teacher!

With the incredible support of the Duncan Foundation, this month we were able to supply 4 more of these scholarships to our youth! A huge congratulations to Kaydence, Makayla, Daisy, and Trent. We are so incredibly proud of you and can't wait to see what you accomplish. Thank you for what you have poured into our center, your peers and your community. 💗

(Note: We had a little trouble filling the baskets this year! If you ever feel drawn to support our amazing grads, donating just a $5 local gift card goes a long way in making these surprise baskets special.)

A great big THANK YOU to our incredible community member, Patty! 🛍️💜

Patty Foster Pointer dropped by the center today with bags and bags full of amazing goodies for our teens. It turned into a total treasure hunt, and the kids had the absolute best time digging through everything and picking out some new favorite items!

It is people like Patty who keep the magic alive at The After School Spot. We are going to bed tonight with very full hearts. Thank you for thinking of our youth! ✨

What started last season with our volunteer Ms. Jessica bringing in a few canned goods grew into something major!

Thanks to Ms. Lolli connecting with the Shepard’s Pantry at Emmanuel United Church of Christ (EUCC), since last school season we have been able to provide entire bags of groceries (pasta, beans, ramen, cereal, mac & cheese, and more!) to our TASS families! Anything left over goes right onto our rolling cart so teens can grab what they need, stigma-free. 🛒

This food pantry is 1 of 5 vital pillars in our C.A.R.E. (Creating Available Resources Everyday) program.

✨ Through C.A.R.E., our teens get FREE access to:
🥫 The Food Pantry (Powered by EUCC!)
🪥 The Hygiene Closet filled with deodorants, shampoos, body sprays, toothpaste and more.
👕 Our 25-Foot Clothing & Decor Shed filled with clothes, shoes, TVs, curtains and small teen room decor.
✏️ School Supplies year round
🧃 A Daily Snack & Drink

Today we picked up our first set of bags for the new school year and we want to express continued appreciation. We could never pull off this food pantry without the generosity of EUCC and Shepard’s Pantry. Thank you for locking arms with us to feed and love our county’s youth and families.
