American Security Council Foundation

American Security Council Foundation The American Security Council Foundation (ASCF) was formed in 1958 to protect American freedoms and values.

The mission of the American Security Council Foundation Peace through Strength® strategy is to promote public awareness of national security, economic security and moral leadership. It was initially known as the Institute for American Strategy. For over 50 years, the Foundation has focused on a wide range of educational programs which address critical challenges to U.S. foreign policy, national se

curity, and the global economy. The ASCF has been credited many times with developing programs and strategies which were eventually adopted as the foreign policy and national security strategy of the United States. The theme of the guidelines mentioned above for Cold War victory was praised by former President Dwight Eisenhower in a national radio address he recorded at ASCF's request. ASCF created the National Strategy for Peace Through Strength® in 1978 and has been cited numerous times for providing the overall theme for the administration of former President Reagan. President Reagan was kind enough to give us credit for this on several occasions and said America won the Cold War on this doctrine. President Reagan spoke of its significance by saying: "One thing is certain. If we continue to advance world peace and human freedom, America must remain strong. If we have learned anything these last eight years, peace through strength works." The ASCF has worked tirelessly to have the United States government publish an official National Security Strategy of the United States. President Reagan first implemented this in 1985, and all his successors have been legally required to produce a similar document. The most recent was unveiled at West Point by President Bush on June 6, 2002, and the news media refer to it as the "unilateral" or "preemption" strategy. While strategy development has always been one of our effective tactics, the mission of the American Security Council Foundation is to promote public awareness of national security, economic security, and moral leadership through a policy of "Peace through Strength." Today, our American History Live program brings an interactive, real-time program to our future generation to promote civic participation and a renewed sense of pride in America.

The central challenge facing the American constitutional republic is no longer diversity itself. The deeper issue is whether a shared civic identity can survive once assimilation weakens.   For most of American history, immigration worked because newcomers entered a country confident in its Judeo-C...

How much does historical memory shape modern geopolitics?

In this new analysis, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Tom Raquer examines how the 1953 overthrow of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh continues influencing U.S.–Iran tensions today.

From sanctions and proxy warfare to BRICS and the rise of strategic distrust, the article explores why nations often interpret present-day policies through the lens of past intervention.

The lesson: geopolitical competition is not driven solely by military power or economics — historical memory itself has become strategic terrain.

Modern geopolitical competition is not shaped solely by military capability or economic pressure. It is also shaped by how states remember past intervention, coercion, and vulnerability.   Historical memory increasingly functions as a strategic variable. For many Americans, tensions with Iran are o...

We also discuss what was notably missing from the conversation: meaningful engagement on the imprisonment of Jimmy Lai, ongoing concerns regarding the Uyghur population, and broader human rights issues.
