ChoZen Farm

ChoZen Farm Welcome to ChoZen Farm, a regenerative oasis at ChoZen Eco Retreat! 🌿 We grow organic produce, practice permaculture, and celebrate nature.

Join us for Farm Fridays every Friday at 9 AM to connect, learn, and grow with our community. Sustainable Kashi is an educational and demonstration project for sustainability and giving back to our community. We find healing in working together to heal the land, and with the many people who have supported us in developing Sustainable Kashi, we continue to grow. We are a permaculture project locate

d on Kashi Ashram with a focus on kindness, community, and connection. Permaculture is guided by a set of ethics: caring for the earth, caring for people, and reinvesting the surplus that this care will create. We feel that this logic fits perfectly with the communal living and spiritual path that Kashi has offered for the past 40 years. We strive to continue our project in a way that enhances the culture and life of those who live, visit, and support Kashi. We host workshops, tours, work-study programs, and Permaculture Design Certification Programs. At the core of permaculture is design. We strive to design our projects in a way that builds community along with additional food sources and educational outlets.

🌿✨ Amaranth: The Ancient Grain That Heals, Nourishes, and Grows with Grace ✨🌿

Have you heard of Amaranth? This vibrant plant isn’t just beautiful — it’s a powerful superfood with deep roots in ancient traditions 🌺

🌾 Why We Love It:
Amaranth is a gluten-free seed (often called a grain) packed with nutrients:

✅ High in plant-based protein — even more than quinoa!
✅ Rich in iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium
✅ Contains lysine, an amino acid essential for tissue repair and immune function
✅ Full of fiber for a happy gut
✅ Loaded with antioxidants to reduce inflammation

🍽️ You can cook it like porridge, pop it like popcorn, add it to soups, or use its flour for baking. It’s as versatile as it is powerful!

🌱 Grower’s Dream:
Amaranth is easy to grow, loves the sun, and thrives even in poor soil. It’s drought-resistant and often reseeds itself — making it perfect for regenerative gardens 💚

🔮 Spiritual Wisdom:
Ancient cultures, especially the Aztecs, used amaranth in sacred ceremonies. It’s a symbol of strength, resilience, and unfading beauty — just like its name in Greek, “amaranthos” meaning “unfading.”

💫 Whether you’re nourishing your body or connecting to the Earth through your garden, amaranth is a gentle, powerful ally.

Let this plant remind you: we can bloom strong, stand tall, and nourish deeply 🌺🌾

Corey’s showing us how we compost—starting with a box full of food scraps, covering it up and letting nature do the rest. The best part? The worms always show up to do their magic. 🐛🍌🌍

🌻 Tithonia: The Underrated Gem Your Garden Needs! 🌿
Also known as Mexican Sunflower, Tithonia is a tall, heat-loving annual that bursts with sunny yellow blooms 🌞 but it’s more than just a pretty face. It grows fast, thrives in poor soil, attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and produces nutrient-rich biomass perfect for mulching and compost. 💪

This plant is a natural soil-builder, pest deterrent, and pollinator magnet—a permaculture powerhouse that deserves way more love! 💚

🌱 What a day on the Chozen farm! Our Volunteer Farm Day was a huge success thanks to an incredible crew of helping hands. We turned the garden beds and planted a beautiful variety of seeds— okra, eggplant, turnips, radishes and beans all ready to thrive in the coming season! Grateful for the community spirit and the soil under our nails! 💚👨🏻‍🌾
