This is a community for snow leopard lovers, managed by the Snow Leopard Trust, the world's leader in research and conservation of the endangered snow leopard. Post snow leopard photos, both from zoos and the wild, ask questions and engage in discussions about the snow leopard, its ecosystems and strategies and conservation initiatives to ensure its future. Some of the issues surrounding conversat

ion can be controversial, and while we welcome different opinions, we can't tolerate hate speech, discriminatory or incendiary comments or calls for violence. In the rare instance that someone crosses these lines, we will delete posts or comments. Thank you, and welcome!

This horse has a secret. And it's protecting snow leopards.

A smart collar hidden under its mane emits flashing lights and ultrasonic alarms the moment a horse panics or flees, keeping predators away before conflict ever starts.

Will you help us buy more of these lifesaving collars to deter predators and keep livestock and cats safe?

All gifts will be matched by John Ball Zoo now through June 5 (up to $10k). Donate today and help deter a cat!

If you have a cat at home, you know how difficult it can be to keep them out of things they shouldn't be in! Snow leopards are no different.

But we have solutions that work! You can help keep snow leopards away from livestock corrals, so no one gets hurt. Will you help us buy smart devices to deter predators and keep livestock and cats safe?

Today, the world celebrates Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday, a century of life that has inspired generations to care about the natural world.

Executive Director Dr. Charu Mishra is one of the many people across the planet who have been inspired by Sir David's extraordinary life.

"Most people grew up watching Sir David Attenborough. I didn’t... Growing up in India, televisions were scarce and wildlife documentaries even scarcer. My introduction to Sir David came through one of his books, The Living Planet, which I read and reread as a child. It opened up a world I had never imagined.

But the result was the same: a lasting curiosity about the natural world. Long before conservation became a widely discussed subject, Sir David was helping people care about nature, not by lecturing them, but by introducing them to its wonders, with joy and respect."

Read Charu's full account of his meeting with Sir David and the impact he has had on all of our lives, and the natural world, here:

Happy Earth Day!

Snow Leopard Trust has partnered with Indigenous Peoples and local communities across Asia's high mountains for over 40 years. Our conservation work to protect the iconic snow leopard would be impossible without the collective knowledge and experience of the communities that have lived here and cared for the land for countless generations.

We are all stewards of the Earth, and each of us can take actions to protect the lands where we live, on Earth Day and beyond!
