Haring Center for Inclusive Education

Haring Center for Inclusive Education The Haring Center improves the lives of children with developmental disabilities and their families with research and training that drive education policy.

The Haring Center is the leader in inclusive education. Within the Haring Center, the Experimental Education Unit (EEU) serves children with and without disabilities. The EEU is a living laboratory for the Research team, which has a 50-year history at the forefront in research about how children with developmental disabilities learn. The Professional Development & Training team moves research from

the research unit into practice at schools and childcare centers throughout Seattle, Washington and the United States. Whether it begins with a toddler at the EEU, a researcher testing a new understanding of how children with autism learn or a trainer coaching current teachers, the Haring Center is improving the lives of children and their families.

At the Haring Center, we have all kinds of students - EEU students, UW undergraduates, and practicum students like Ashley! We love having Ashley, and all our UW and Practicum students, on our CFS and classroom teams to learn, practice and carry forward inclusive education.

Meet Ashley Ya-Hsuan Huang, a graduate student in the on-campus Applied Behavior Analysis program!

In the program, Ashley has found a supportive community of peers and professors, hands-on experience at the Haring Center, and opportunities to build both research and real-world skills.

Kickin' it with NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! We love when come to play! Today players brought their trophy to the EEU! Curious students asked questions, shared about their love of soccer and got to kick around with the team. Thank you for playing with us and congratulations! You are always Champions at the EEU!

Get to know our EEU classrooms! This month's classroom is the Tigers with Teacher Nikki! ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿงก ๐Ÿ‘ถ

Blocks, balls and babies are all the rage in the Tigers class!

Snacks are plentiful but strollers are in high demand as the youngest EEU kiddos work on playing with each other and their caregivers. Itโ€™s an excellent opportunity to reinforce sharing and waiting your turn. Itโ€™s a very busy scene in room 123. The Tigers are very engaged in dramatic play, using the kitchen sets to cook and talk about their favorite meals from home and food that is made by our fantastic kitchen.
You can often find children following caregivers to an activity and just minutes later those roles are reversed!
